Grad stories

I'm sleeping better, I'm happier and have more energy.

I've been walking every day with my dog or by myself with a book and doing strength training, which feels great. I've lost 7 pounds and have a better outlook because I don't have as much inflammation and fatigue.

★★★★★Lynette C.

A note from Jen

If you’re on the fence, I was too

Would the recipes actually be good? Would I just bounce right back to my old habits? Was it worth eating 100% plant-based for three weeks? Then about eight days in, I was hooked. Less bloated. Sleeping like a rock. Energy through the roof.

Most cleanses end and leave you exactly where you started — or worse, hooked on a product you have to rebuy. This one is different on purpose: you learn to cook real food, so you walk away with skills that don’t run out when the box is empty.

And if you’re nervous about the food? Remember — this is literally what I do. I make plant-based food that’s so good you forget it’s “healthy.” Because healthy should be tasty.

Common Questions

Will I be hungry while on a detox body cleanse?

Not likely. The recipe portions are deliberately generous to accommodate even the largest appetites. This is not a starvation diet, it is a celebration of food, flavor, and abundance. We are not counting calories. You will be eating three to five times each day (breakfast, mid-morning snack, lunch, afternoon snack, and dinner, if you choose to.) This cleanse is not designed to starve you, and you’re not limited in the number of times you eat, or the amount you eat – only in what you eat. If you do get hunger pangs, make sure that you’re really hungry, and not just bored or thirsty. If it’s a case of real hunger, go for one of the bonus snack recipes, a piece of fruit, or a small handful of nuts, or seeds. One tip to avoid hunger is to chew your green smoothie. This may sound silly, but the chewing action signals your body that food is on the way, and triggers the digestive processes.

Do I need to buy any powders, shakes, or supplements?

Nope — and that’s the whole point. This cleanse runs entirely on real food you buy at your regular grocery store. No proprietary box, no capsules, no subscription. You’ll learn to cook with whole ingredients so your results actually last once the 21 days are up.

How much will the groceries cost on the 21-day cleanse?

You may have many of the staple ingredients in your kitchen already (avocado oil, raw cashews, maple syrup, ground cumin, nutritional yeast, coconut oil, etc). If you do not, the first shop typically costs about $150. Then, once your kitchen is set up, we estimate the cost of the produce to be between $100 per week. If you choose to supplement the plant-based recipes with high quality animal protein like organic chicken breast or cage free eggs, your grocery bill will be higher.

And remember — you’re buying real groceries, not a $400+ box of powders you’ll run out of. Most of this is food you’d be shopping for anyway, just put to much better use.

Can I have coffee and tea while cleansing?

If you struggle with getting quality sleep, we advise omitting coffee throughout the cleanse. You will get the best results and many cleanse grads choose to stay off coffee after the cleanse because they feel so great. If you and coffee aren’t ready to break up, we suggest having just one cup in the morning to support quality rest and sleep.

What if I can’t have certain nuts, veggies, fruits, etc.?

If you want the full benefit of cleansing your body, stick with the plan as close as possible. Our detox meals are crafted by our holistic nutritionist for optimal cleansing. This is not a vacation, it’s a cleanse. Yet of course if you truly cannot stand cilantro, turmeric or fennel, you can substitute them out for something you do enjoy, or choose another meal.

Can I go out to eat while cleansing?

Of course— life must go on! The 21-Day Cleanse is a flexible program that you can follow while living your life with family and friends. Using the weekly meal plans and recipes will help you get great results. But, you can still get good results by sticking to the recommended foods lists. You can eat “off meal plan”, eat out, and travel during the program— feel free to ask for tips inside the community to help you the most.

What are the side effects of the cleanse?

You may experience short-term symptoms like: headaches, bloating, muscle cramps, skin irritations, fatigue, irritability, mood swings, or change in bowel frequency. These symptoms are completely normal and expected.

It usually takes between 2-5 days to complete the withdrawal phase of the 21-Day Cleanse, yet it’s absolutely worth it. Giving your body a break from stimulants will allow your organs to heal and your body to recharge fully. Remember, these symptoms are proof that the cleanse is working and your body is getting the care it needs.

How long does the food prep take?

You’ll definitely spend more time in the kitchen throughout the cleanse. In some ways, this is like a crash course plant-based cooking school. I highly suggest following our prep guide to make most of the smoothies, snacks and meals over the weekend. Breakfast is a smoothie (10 minutes), lunch is a reheated soup or quick salad (15 minutes) and dinners will range from 15 minutes – 1 hour to prepare. The good news is, the dinners repeat so you make once and reheat for another evening to give you a break in the kitchen.

I have a crazy busy schedule, is this realistic for me?

We know all about busy schedules here, which is why we’ve provided a weekend prep guide that saves you tons of time during the week. If you’re working and have a full schedule, expect to spend 3-4 hours shopping and prepping on the weekends to make each cleanse week stress-free and enjoyable. The cleanse gives you a wonderful opportunity to really listen to your body. It’s an individual experience that differs for everyone. Depending on the level of toxicity in your body, there may be some less- than-amazing symptoms in the first 3–5 days, such as headaches, nausea, fatigue, skin irritations, etc. Once you hit day five, these should only be distant memories, and you’ll be well on your way to greatness. But some people sail through the entire cleansing period with no side effects at all. You may feel amazing throughout the entire cleanse, or your energy may wax and wane a little.

Who shouldn’t do a cleanse?

This cleanse is great for most people, yet you should avoid cleansing in the following situations: advanced cancer, under 16 years of age, if you have an eating disorder, kidney or liver disease, and if you’re underweight. If you have a blood sugar regulation issue (diabetes, hyperglycemia, hypoglycemia) or any other medical condition, you should seek your doctor’s advice before undertaking a cleanse. If you’re pregnant or breastfeeding, you can absolutely do the cleanse with some modifications. If this is you, let us know and we can give you specific tweaks to the program to make sure you’re benefitting your baby and body.

Can I workout during the cleanse?

You may find that you have more energy than normal—and more motivation! Why waste it? Get moving! Be mindful that you may need to take it down a notch though as your body adjust to the new way of eating. If you normally exercise fairly intensely, reduce your output until you feel strong and energized.

If you don’t normally work out, you would do well to include some regular walking, yoga, swimming or gardening during this time. Try to sneak in some incidental exercise, such as getting off the train or bus one or two stops early and walking the rest of the way. Or park further away from the entrance to the grocery store and walk.

Can my husband do this with me?

Absolutely. My husband loves our cleanses — the clear plans, the tasty recipes, and how good he feels by the end. Just double the grocery list and recipes so there’s enough for you both.

What is your refund policy?

We offer a 7-day money back guarantee. Enroll now and get 7 days to go through the Week 1 Nutrition Plan, share it with your doctor, try a recipe or three, and say hello to your fellow cleansers in the private support group. If you decide it’s not for you, send us an email within 7 days of purchase and I’ll refund you. I’m that confident that when you commit to this cleanse, you’ll see results… and keep them going. You have nothing to lose but so much to gain when you go plant-based for 21 days.

I absolutely loved all the recipes, and even more so when I did the prep before hand. My husband was on board as well so, he helped with the chopping which helped so much! We enjoyed the smoothies and this got me back into a morning smoothie habit again. What really shocked me was that I never thought of sweet treats either. Win win for us both. Lost 5 lbs and hoping to keep this off. The only thing is my dear sweet Mom passed away last Sunday so the last week kind of got messed up with company from out of town and all the planning. I plan to start it all over after this week though. My joints stopped hurting and I just felt better with more energy which helped me to get through such a difficult time.. thank you for such a great program and it has become my favorite of all the others I’ve done in the past. Thank you and look forward to joining your Rawk. 💕 The scales finally moved below my weight I had been stuck at for years. I never once craved chocolate or sweet treats, I love pretzels and not once craved one since I started the cleanse. Everyone complimented my skin and said I glowed. At almost 70 that was a big YES! 😁 my joints didn’t ache and I slept so good too… thank you so much!

Spring Cleanse

This cleanse came at the perfect time for me. I have to stop eating animal products for health reasons. I had breast cancer last year and the majority of the year was spent in surgery, chemo and radiation. I am now almost done with the reconstruction process. Switching to a plant based diet is the one thing I can do to help prevent recurrence, and ensure I live my best life from here on. This was daunting to say the least, and honestly I had no idea where to start. I had done the Smoothie Challenge, and the salad challenge, and enjoyed both. Then I got the email about the Spring Cleanse. I actually cut out meat on my own the week before the challenge started and made it through the week, but the pre-cleanse week opened my eyes to just how delicious a plant based menu can be. Sure, there is more preparation than I was used to – but then when you eat a particular way your whole life it becomes second nature, and change isn’t always easy – and I wasn’t always good at getting the prep done, but I managed. I definitely need improvement in that area though 🙂 Throughout the three weeks of the process (pre-cleanse, cleanse, and post-cleanse) there have been meals that I have loved and some I loved less (not many tbh), but I am learning what I prefer. I learned that I can do this, and that is my biggest take away from this. I feel amazing (big positive driver!), never once felt deprived, don’t crave coffee, nor chocolate (big shocker!), and actually don’t crave the meat or dairy as I thought I would. I have a long way to go yet but this is a fabulous start and I am hugely motivated by what I have achieved in this past 3 weeks. I didn’t manage to make all the check-ins because of my schedule but it was good to know they were there and the prep sessions I was able to watch the recordings which was good. Posted a few times on the community and kept up reading the posts other people made which was really helpful to me as well. And information on products that would be helpful (the soup storage for example, and the silicone ice cube trays) was also incredibly valuable to me and I will need to get more of those moving forward, I found plant based is delicious, and I don’t crave chocolate, coffee or chips, and I don’t need to snack so often. Gained confidence and motivation in my ability to be able to do this long term My kids have started having smoothies in the morning – huge win. Neither of them like veggies particularly but they tasted all the smoothies I had and now request spinach based smoothies regularly Lost some weight and can see a definite shape change as the weight drops.

I joined because I needed a dietary reset. I never felt hungry because I was always rewarding myself with food. This program helped me to appreciate neutral, never hungry but not stuffed either. (Eat to live, not live to eat.) All of the meals offered a satisfying flavor punch that made me forget I wasn’t eating animal protein. To your credit, you concocted a recipe with celery that I will make again. I don’t like raw celery and don’t use it unless it’s camouflaged in a soup or stew. Yep, I think all of the recipes are keepers. The weekly prep definitely helps come meal time. A word to the uninitiated, you will be spending time in your kitchen! I became naturally regular for the first time ever! Consequently I lost a bit of bloat and weight.

Spring Cleanse

I highly enjoyed the cleanse and encourage anyone to try it if they want to help kick cravings for sugar, salt, or reduce inflammation. I decided to do the cleanse as I had fallen into bad eating habits and found myself constantly craving sweets and highly processed foods and needed a reset. Although I had completed the 10-day salad challenge easily, I found the actual cleanse week this year more difficult for some reason. I thought the prep and meals were very easy to prepare and the food was tasty, but I found I missed the beans and grains this time. Being part of the community helped work through this and I enjoyed seeing the various recipe modifications and how others worked through any issues they were having. I love how Jen uses all the groceries throughout the week or items are used early in the next week, a great help for me and prevented lots of waste. I stuck to the cleanse as close as I could and lost 8 pounds, I’m sleeping better through the night, inflammation has decreased, and I’m not craving salty or sugary foods. My husband had pizza last night so I tried a piece, I was really surprised to find I didn’t enjoy it at all as I thought it tasted much too salty! Enjoyed my marinated celery salad much more. I’m thrilled and very appreciative that Jen provided the maintece plan for All Access members too!! Optimistic that the maintece plan will help me continue to learn to more easily plan plantbased meals. Looking forward to keeping the momentum going! Lost 8 pounds, I’m sleeping better through the night, inflammation has decreased, and I’m not craving salty or sugary foods. My tastes have shifted to more whole, fresh foods. Better awareness of my food sensitivities

Spring Cleanse

This is my 5th Spring Cleanse and while I’m never surprised by the easy recipes and tasty meals, I’m always a little surprised at how good I feel and the positive results! The cleanse comes at a very busy and stressful time of the year (as a teacher), so it’s a great way to have structure and a plan to get me through the chaos of the work week. This year in particular it was helpful and insightful, and I’ll continue a few more weeks with the maintece option to get me through the end of the school year and a great start to the summer. I have great energy and better sleep when I’m eating right during this cleanse. It keeps me off the cheese and junk food. I also lost 7.5 pounds, so bonus.

I have decided to try this cleanse as nothing else worked for me – no other diets, restrictions etc. I found it helpful that the meal plan has been designed for me with the grocery list – all I had to is to execute. Online support is great too, knowing that you have other people around the globe doing it “with you”. It is like a sisterhood. What I also liked that Jen is genuine and authentic. I believe her goal is to make other people’s lives better. She does not sell a magic powder or a pill to make you healthy and slim. You do the work yourself – she is your coach. 1. Lost 5 pounds. 2. Realized I can live a happy life without addictions like coffee (I am.. ahem.. was a heavy coffee drinker) and wine. 3. Was exposed to new products and superfoods ( hemps hearts, nutritional yeast, almond butter etc.) 4. Modeled healthy choices for my kids. 5. Found my diet moving forward – I am a flexitarian [a person whose diet mostly vegetarian but sometimes includes meat, fish, or poultry].

Spring Cleanse

I Joined the Cleanse because I knew I had to take control of my life again. I have back issues and the weight I lose will benefit me and allow me to have a healthier life. I feel great as I have followed the cleanse. I tried to strictly follow the meal plans. The first two weeks I stayed truer to the course than this week. (Too many outside commitments.) But the best advice I heard during the coaching sessions was Perfection was not the goal, progress was! I did not feel guilty and was able to get back on track easily. I lost 8.8 pounds so far. I love the recipes and have learned to adapt them to my tastes. I have found I can use what I learned through my Membership in Rawk The Year to carry me through my meal prep. I am definitely more comfortable with my choice to add more plant-based food to my diet. The lessons and the comments on the coaching sessions were appreciated and if I could not attend live, I watched a recording. A bonus to incorporating the plan, I am down another medicine. (That is a total of three down and my A1C is below 6.) When I want a snack, I try to select fruit, I eat more consciously, and I exercise more. But it is still a journey, and I am continuing to take my time. Thanks to the Community for traveling with me. Over the last 5 months I gained 10 pounds and I am almost back to my lowest weight. I have stopped taking another medicine. I have experimented with new foods and discovered that I can change my eating habits. No caffeine, no dairy, no bread, all things that I love.

I have lupus, am hypothyroid and have fibromyalgia. Ugh!! I really needed to change my eating habits because the inflammation is real. I’m tired of feeling bad all the time. I knew from friends who went WFPBOF are off their meds and have lost weight. So I’m starting with the cleanse. The recipes are definitely rawk solid! Everything I like is in there, lol. The prep and check-ins keeps the momentum and enthusiasm high. I am more confident about knowing what foods are best for me and how to make a meal, great. I already have a Vitamix and make smoothies for my breakfast so nothing changed there. No marathon but have more energy do get done what needs to be done. Nope, I will always crave potato chips. I am sodium deficient so eating salty or higher sodium foods helps. Dr was happy to hear my new eating plans. I’m very happy I joined Simple Green Smoothies 21 day cleanse. I plan to continue this as my lifestyle! Thanks so much Jen for rawking my taste buds and helping my new lifestyle. I’m hyperthyroid and tried for years to do better with my eating. With the help of my endocrinologist I’ve been able to maintain a decent weight that other patients were not able to. So when people look at me they don’t think I’m hypo. With this cleanse I lost about 8-9 lbs. I don’t weigh because I forget to do that before I drink or eat something. But I did weigh last week and was 9 lbs down plus the clothes I looked pudgy in now I look slimmer.

The group format of the cleanse alone is amazing. It helped me hold myself accountable and be consistent compared to if I had tried to do it on my own. Also being able to see others progress or swaps in the plan kept me motivated. This kicked all my sugar and caffeine cravings which were causing me to over eat. Reset my hunger cues, increased energy so could get back into working out. No weight loss on the scale but I could feel less inflammation and water retention from before I started.

I love focusing on eating nutritious food! I believe that good health is feeling good physically and mentally. When I know I’m doing good things for my body, it gives me a mental boost. What the mind believes the body achieves. I feel better when I eat better. Doing the cleanse helps me realign my eating habits. Each time I do a cleanse I learn something new. I never used ginger until my first cleanse and now I have it almost daily in my tea and smoothie. I also carry forward new habits which help me implement more vegetables in my diet. I love the interesting mix of flavors in the meals and snacks. I love the metabolism tea and the spiced almond milk. I like repeating recipes to save time and energy. I love being able to change out ingredients and still have a great meal. More energy. Better hydration. I stopped eating my pumpkin pudding every night. I got out of the mindset that I had to have dessert every night. It’s not that it’s junky, but spiced almond milk is just as satisfying.

Spring Cleanse

I joined the cleanse because I needed to reset my eating habits and improve my nutrition in hopes of improving my fibromyalgia symptoms. The first week I felt extra achy and fatigued at times, but never overly hungry or deprived, and by the second week my energy and mood started lifting, and for the rest of the cleanse, I haven’t needed to take any heartburn medication, muscle relaxers, or extra pain relievers beyond my daily Lyrica prescription (a big win!). I also lost at least 5 pounds. I think my digestive system is still getting used to the extra fiber, but I’m determined to keep trying. I enjoyed most of the recipes, and they were a good way to help me grow to like a wider variety of vegetables. The hardest part was learning to do a lot more meal prep than I was used to. I enjoyed the community and felt like it helped me stick with it to see so many other women working to improve their health too. I really love to see how women come together to support each other. We are all in this together. I’m planning to stick with the 28-day maintece plan while still bringing back occasional meat, cheese, and alcohol and going out to eat or to fun events. I really appreciate that Jen is never pushy or makes you feel guilty about your choices. In my experience, the Rawkstar community doesn’t get involved in the food and diet wars or push veganism or weight loss. It’s just about increasing our intake and enjoyment of healthy, whole foods. My husband also followed most of the plan with me, as he also needed to reset some habits, so I’m thankful for that as well. I’m hopeful that we can continue improving our diets moving forward. better mood and energy no need for pain relievers, muscle relaxer, and heartburn medications didn’t feel as much hunger, cravings, or need to snack between meals never felt hangry or hypoglycemic (a common occurence for me) lost at least 5 pounds greatly increased my intake of vegetables, especially leafy greens learned to like raw onion and a wider variety of salads learned helpful meal prep habits ate at regular times got better sleep gave myself a much-needed break from alcohol and broke the near daily nightcap habit improved my water intake improved my digestion, though I still have a ways to go

I joined the cleanse mainly to get my diet back on track and to shed a few pounds … oh, the belly flab! I have previously used Haylie Pomroy’s “Fast Metabolism Diet” in which you make all homemade meals, cut sugar, alcohol, gluten, dairy, etc, but it incorporates what I consider to be vast quantities of meat on a couple days per week. She will allow you to use plant-based recipes, but does not provide recipes that I found appealing for plant-based meals… and got us into having “meatloaf & asparagus night” every week… haha! I knew I wanted to try something different, and thought I felt better when eating more plant-based … and boy, was I right. My husband (Poppi) agreed to try your cleanse with me … basically, if I’m cooking, he’s eating! 🙂 VOILA! Here we are, almost 3 weeks later after sticking faithfully to your plan (and your generous and wise offers for swaps), and we’ve both dropped pounds, feel great, and found recipes we will both be asking for well into the healthy future! Goodbye meatloaf night… hello Asparagus Stir Fry .. and don’t forget the Savory Almond Sauce! Yum! We both carried on through some low energy moments, and I had some mild tummy rumblings a couple mornings, but with the amazing Check-In collective, I figured out that after the Detox Tea and then a breakfast smoothie using full-fat coconut milk as the liquid, my system was talking to me. Swapping in some water for a good portion of coconut milk was my fix. Noting people in the collective with a similar issue, and that solution was a game-changer. Jen, you really put together a fabulous system that allows participants to help and support each other, in addition to your well-felt care, and that piece was surprisingly important as well. The time you spent with multiple face-to-face sessions was also magic in that it created such a beautiful personalized environment for us to see and listen to each other. Your generosity with your time as well as pulling out additional amazing recipes on the fly for us when you heard our likes, etc was so appreciated! And kudos to my bestie … my blender! I thought that beautiful Vitamix had been well used, but I had no idea! She was with me every step of the way, multiple times a day, and performed on the heavy lifting (pesto and hummus) like the pro she is. Cravings … what cravings? I keep asking my hubs as well about cravings, and we’re feeling good. I’m not even craving sugar. What in the world?! Give the girl a cookie and some cashew cream sweetened fruit and she can change the world! Thank you seems like not enough to give you, Jen. So thank you times 3 weeks, and then some! You’ve put together a game changer that we are grateful to keep in our back pockets.. which are getting slimmer! So many wins: – Love how I feel eating plant-based and love the delicious and nutritious recipes created for the cause. Spring Cleanse

I absolutely love participating in Jen’s cleanses! I was really needing a reset, having succumbed to too many poor food choices lately and this Spring Cleanse did not disappoint. I’m feeling much better, lost several pounds and am back in the habit of making a big batch of soup or salad to last several busy days. I love filling my fridge up with produce and watching it disappear all week! Lost some weight, identified lentils as a food to avoid, and reestablished healthy eating habits.

Spring Cleanse

I really enjoyed this cleanse and connecting with community. My biggest wins are that I have been able to go through the whole cleanse (a few days left) and make all of the recipes. I’m not an experienced cook, but I definitely feel more confident in the kitchen. I actually started “eyeballing” some ingredients instead of measuring every single ingredient! I was also successful with prepping too! I didn’t miss a meal! I had a positive attitude going into the cleanse and reminded myself that it’s about progress not perfection and I definitely have seen progress. I’ve taken note of some recipes that I would like to make again such as the Roasted Veggies Medley! I like how we all encourage each other in the group – it helps! I’ve thought about it and I liked all of the recipes but would prefer only 1 soup. I want to keep going forward with plant based eating and I really believe I can do it after participating in this cleanse! Prepping and following all if the recipes and sticking with the eating plan! Cooking! Cooking! Cooking!
