Grad stories

I'm sleeping better, I'm happier and have more energy.

I've been walking every day with my dog or by myself with a book and doing strength training, which feels great. I've lost 7 pounds and have a better outlook because I don't have as much inflammation and fatigue.

★★★★★Lynette C.

A note from Jen

If you’re on the fence, I was too

Would the recipes actually be good? Would I just bounce right back to my old habits? Was it worth eating 100% plant-based for three weeks? Then about eight days in, I was hooked. Less bloated. Sleeping like a rock. Energy through the roof.

Most cleanses end and leave you exactly where you started — or worse, hooked on a product you have to rebuy. This one is different on purpose: you learn to cook real food, so you walk away with skills that don’t run out when the box is empty.

And if you’re nervous about the food? Remember — this is literally what I do. I make plant-based food that’s so good you forget it’s “healthy.” Because healthy should be tasty.

Common Questions

Will I be hungry while on a detox body cleanse?

Not likely. The recipe portions are deliberately generous to accommodate even the largest appetites. This is not a starvation diet, it is a celebration of food, flavor, and abundance. We are not counting calories. You will be eating three to five times each day (breakfast, mid-morning snack, lunch, afternoon snack, and dinner, if you choose to.) This cleanse is not designed to starve you, and you’re not limited in the number of times you eat, or the amount you eat – only in what you eat. If you do get hunger pangs, make sure that you’re really hungry, and not just bored or thirsty. If it’s a case of real hunger, go for one of the bonus snack recipes, a piece of fruit, or a small handful of nuts, or seeds. One tip to avoid hunger is to chew your green smoothie. This may sound silly, but the chewing action signals your body that food is on the way, and triggers the digestive processes.

Do I need to buy any powders, shakes, or supplements?

Nope — and that’s the whole point. This cleanse runs entirely on real food you buy at your regular grocery store. No proprietary box, no capsules, no subscription. You’ll learn to cook with whole ingredients so your results actually last once the 21 days are up.

How much will the groceries cost on the 21-day cleanse?

You may have many of the staple ingredients in your kitchen already (avocado oil, raw cashews, maple syrup, ground cumin, nutritional yeast, coconut oil, etc). If you do not, the first shop typically costs about $150. Then, once your kitchen is set up, we estimate the cost of the produce to be between $100 per week. If you choose to supplement the plant-based recipes with high quality animal protein like organic chicken breast or cage free eggs, your grocery bill will be higher.

And remember — you’re buying real groceries, not a $400+ box of powders you’ll run out of. Most of this is food you’d be shopping for anyway, just put to much better use.

Can I have coffee and tea while cleansing?

If you struggle with getting quality sleep, we advise omitting coffee throughout the cleanse. You will get the best results and many cleanse grads choose to stay off coffee after the cleanse because they feel so great. If you and coffee aren’t ready to break up, we suggest having just one cup in the morning to support quality rest and sleep.

What if I can’t have certain nuts, veggies, fruits, etc.?

If you want the full benefit of cleansing your body, stick with the plan as close as possible. Our detox meals are crafted by our holistic nutritionist for optimal cleansing. This is not a vacation, it’s a cleanse. Yet of course if you truly cannot stand cilantro, turmeric or fennel, you can substitute them out for something you do enjoy, or choose another meal.

Can I go out to eat while cleansing?

Of course— life must go on! The 21-Day Cleanse is a flexible program that you can follow while living your life with family and friends. Using the weekly meal plans and recipes will help you get great results. But, you can still get good results by sticking to the recommended foods lists. You can eat “off meal plan”, eat out, and travel during the program— feel free to ask for tips inside the community to help you the most.

What are the side effects of the cleanse?

You may experience short-term symptoms like: headaches, bloating, muscle cramps, skin irritations, fatigue, irritability, mood swings, or change in bowel frequency. These symptoms are completely normal and expected.

It usually takes between 2-5 days to complete the withdrawal phase of the 21-Day Cleanse, yet it’s absolutely worth it. Giving your body a break from stimulants will allow your organs to heal and your body to recharge fully. Remember, these symptoms are proof that the cleanse is working and your body is getting the care it needs.

How long does the food prep take?

You’ll definitely spend more time in the kitchen throughout the cleanse. In some ways, this is like a crash course plant-based cooking school. I highly suggest following our prep guide to make most of the smoothies, snacks and meals over the weekend. Breakfast is a smoothie (10 minutes), lunch is a reheated soup or quick salad (15 minutes) and dinners will range from 15 minutes – 1 hour to prepare. The good news is, the dinners repeat so you make once and reheat for another evening to give you a break in the kitchen.

I have a crazy busy schedule, is this realistic for me?

We know all about busy schedules here, which is why we’ve provided a weekend prep guide that saves you tons of time during the week. If you’re working and have a full schedule, expect to spend 3-4 hours shopping and prepping on the weekends to make each cleanse week stress-free and enjoyable. The cleanse gives you a wonderful opportunity to really listen to your body. It’s an individual experience that differs for everyone. Depending on the level of toxicity in your body, there may be some less- than-amazing symptoms in the first 3–5 days, such as headaches, nausea, fatigue, skin irritations, etc. Once you hit day five, these should only be distant memories, and you’ll be well on your way to greatness. But some people sail through the entire cleansing period with no side effects at all. You may feel amazing throughout the entire cleanse, or your energy may wax and wane a little.

Who shouldn’t do a cleanse?

This cleanse is great for most people, yet you should avoid cleansing in the following situations: advanced cancer, under 16 years of age, if you have an eating disorder, kidney or liver disease, and if you’re underweight. If you have a blood sugar regulation issue (diabetes, hyperglycemia, hypoglycemia) or any other medical condition, you should seek your doctor’s advice before undertaking a cleanse. If you’re pregnant or breastfeeding, you can absolutely do the cleanse with some modifications. If this is you, let us know and we can give you specific tweaks to the program to make sure you’re benefitting your baby and body.

Can I workout during the cleanse?

You may find that you have more energy than normal—and more motivation! Why waste it? Get moving! Be mindful that you may need to take it down a notch though as your body adjust to the new way of eating. If you normally exercise fairly intensely, reduce your output until you feel strong and energized.

If you don’t normally work out, you would do well to include some regular walking, yoga, swimming or gardening during this time. Try to sneak in some incidental exercise, such as getting off the train or bus one or two stops early and walking the rest of the way. Or park further away from the entrance to the grocery store and walk.

Can my husband do this with me?

Absolutely. My husband loves our cleanses — the clear plans, the tasty recipes, and how good he feels by the end. Just double the grocery list and recipes so there’s enough for you both.

What is your refund policy?

We offer a 7-day money back guarantee. Enroll now and get 7 days to go through the Week 1 Nutrition Plan, share it with your doctor, try a recipe or three, and say hello to your fellow cleansers in the private support group. If you decide it’s not for you, send us an email within 7 days of purchase and I’ll refund you. I’m that confident that when you commit to this cleanse, you’ll see results… and keep them going. You have nothing to lose but so much to gain when you go plant-based for 21 days.

We have been trying to figure out how my husband can finally recover from his covid vaccine I jury, which his Army doctors determined in June of last year. He and I did this cleanse together, and his health has improved in many ways! I feel more alert as well, but didn’t have the number of inflammatory issues going into the cleanse as he did.

I had been trying to eat mostly plant based but was falling into some bad habits. Too much caffeine, wine and snacking after dinner. I also found that if I did not plan my meals and prep Sunday I would find myself overeating less healthy food. This cleanse gave me the motivation I needed to get back on track. I found I have not missed the caffeine or wine. As a bonus it allowed me to cut gluten out without much hassle. My knees are feeling better. I also dropped a few pounds which I think will continue now that I am committed to continuing this lifestyle. The hardest part of this is how much time it takes to prep. I hope as I continue I will become more efficient. I especially loved the morning smoothies. I have never really made them so it was great to have recipes picked out for me. I also liked that they contained spinach or kale and other vegetables in addition to the fruit. I really enjoyed most of the meals especially the soups. I feel much more satisfied eating these plant based meals because they are so nutritious my body is getting what it needs. I even made extra of some of the recipes to share with my parents as my mom was just getting out of the hospital after surgery. They may even incorporate some plant based meals into their rotation! I’m really happy I took part in the cleanse and was able to stick with it I am going to continue to nourish myself this way! Thank you for all the shopping lists and meal plans!

The 21 day cleanse program was amazing! I can’t believe I gave up meat for 21 days! I’ve never done that before and I feel amazing!! I’ve lost 9 pounds and plan on sticking with this way of life! The plan itself was fabulous every meal was delicious and I will definitely make them again. Prepping on the weekend really helped throughout the week and I plan to continue that! I also enjoyed the community being able to connect with others and read that other people were going through the same thing as me. Accountability is a game changer! Thanks again Jen and team for a great 21 days and a great program! I cant wait for the next one!

I joined the cleanse because my husband wanted to do it. I already eat pretty clean and vegan lifestyle, but he was feeling sluggish and bloated, not sleeping well so I suggested we do it (I already knew the outcome would be great). The first four days were not good for him due to giving up alcohol and coffee. I was enjoying the meals as they were exciting to my tastebuds. He continued to get in the kitchen and prep and cook with me so it wasn’t so overwhelming for me. Grocery shopping was quite an experience as I soon realized with vegetables what’s considered 16oz is not the same as 2 cups… particularly spinach lol. That first week we over bought a lot of food. I’m a math teacher so I was in the stores doing my conversions and had my calculator out, needless to say even in all that I was still off. The next surprise came when my kids started asking for some of my food instead of what I made for them. I would say things like you’re probably not going to like it… and every time I was met with eyes that lit up and a smile followed by “mmm, this is good” Overall I feel great because I was able to add more vegan meals to my collection and a bonus is that they are gluten free since my daughter is gluten free. My husband has been sleeping quality sleep and has lost 15 lbs. I knew it was all the sugar in his favorite after work beverage that had him bloated and restless. While he is a self proclaimed connoisseur of all meat… he has said he can join me on the mostly plant based food with occasional meat. I am proud of my self for modeling healthy habits for my family and having them aboard. Also it turns out I enjoy cooking everything from scratch. I never liked to cook, but I’m proud of myself for getting in the kitchen and trying new recipes. Never seen a fennel bulb or let alone knew how to cook it. I look forward to continuing this lifestyle with my family.

I’ve been interested in moving towards a plant-based diet for years as I feel it would be better for my health, and I know plant-rich diets are a viable climate solution. Having the meals fully scripted was a huge help for me! I loved pretty much all of the recipes and will be integrating them into my regular meal planning. I was amazed at the impact removing gluten, dairy, meat, and caffeine had on my health. I feel more energetic and just all around better. I’m going to try my best to limit these in my diet from here on out. The only downside was the amount of time that weekly meal prep took. I spent 5-6 hours prepping over the weekend. Though having things prepped in advance made the week run smoothly and allowed me to stick with the planned meals as they were ready to go when I was hungry, which was super helpful. I would definitely recommend this cleanse!

I can’t tell you enough about how this cleanse has changed both our lives. We have definitely decided to keep with a plant based diet. We both feel 100% better. As I noted about my diabetic numbers, they have the best in years and my husband has lost 12lbs. He has asthma and can finally walk without huffing. We joined the cleanse for something better and we have found it. We are both proud that we have made it to the end but we are definitely doing the week after cleanse. I would feel lost if I didn’t keep doing it. It’s a way of life now. We check the menus at restaurants now for plant based and have our favorites picked out. The support group is the best. 😍 Thank you so much for this great new journey. The Kelley’s. 😍 We have both enjoyed all the recipes.

I was a little skeptical about the recipes. They looked daunting and not super appetizing. I was completely surprised at how delicious they were. I played all in, and followed the recipes as close as I could. There were things I haven’t liked in the past that I actually liked with these recipes (tomatoes and mushrooms). I loved that there were so many options for meals and food. Cleanses I’ve done in the past have felt so limited, and I get tired of the same smoothie and a baked potato three days in a row. There was so much yummy variety to this cleanse. Every cleanse is different in purpose. I feel this one is mostly to get eating healthy. Not necessarily cleansing the organs and systems. I only lost 2-4 lbs (I don’t have that much to loose), but I do feel I’m not as swollen and aches are minimal. I’m coming off a year of doing a keto version diet, and I feel so much better eating this way. The shopping list was SO helpful, and the recipes were easy to understand. Some took a lot of prep, but mostly because they were new unfamiliar recipe, or a lot of veggie chopping. But prep was the name of the game to succeed! I have my kids try some of the recipes, and they really liked them also. I’m going to incorporate most of them in my family cooking. I’ve been telling all my friends about the cleanse and highly recommending it to anyone.

This cleanse is amazing. First of all I learnt how to make delicious green smoothies which provide an explosion of taste in ones mouth. Secondly I learnt how to use products which I had never used before: hemp hearts, chia seeds, various milks etc. Thirdly, this is such a great eating plan, so interesting! Even though I haven’t done the cleanse for a while, I still implement what I have learnt to other dishes. Since having done the cleanse, I prefer preparing my own food instead of buying ready made dishes as I can choose what I use or don’t use. This cleanse has created an awareness I did not have before. Furthermore the community was a great help! So many enthusiastic fellow ‘healthy eaters’. I also learnt quite a number of tips & tricks for preparing.

Started off behind due to family emergencies- but was able to follow the Sunday calls and participants feedback and ideas from the week. I am still fumbling around – tried a few of the recipes and a couple were awesome so will be keeping them around forever! I have the book and will try it again when it fits my schedule better. Love my green smoothies now that I make them proportionately like you suggest and look forward to finishing the cleanse in the future!

Fantastic resource!

I feel more confident that I can make a delicious meal with simple and few ingredients. I am also more excited about plant-based food knowing it can be very delicious! If your desire to eat more fruits and veggies feels overwhelming, try this reframe: how can I add more fruits/veggies to my meals today? Or to my meals this week? Take it 1 step at a time and you’ll get there. Rawk the Year is a fantastic resource that provides recipes, meal plan suggestions, and community support.

I enjoy the challenge of a cleanse as much as the results! This is the 2nd one I have done w Jen’s program. Such great recipes! I had some other commitments last week that a couple of dinners had to be postponed. Definitely had headache earlier in the week and some back issues that disguised the results. I did lose a couple pounds and would say felt SUPER in my Monday workout 🏋️‍♀️. Better than I have in months!! I am trying to stay off the caffeine and now onto the Hydration Challenge- which I need too! Thank you for the detailed plan expectations and prep guidance! Never had so many veggies in the fridge 😉🥕🌶️🫑🍅🥬🍓🫐🍑🌿
