Grad stories
I'm sleeping better, I'm happier and have more energy.
I've been walking every day with my dog or by myself with a book and doing strength training, which feels great. I've lost 7 pounds and have a better outlook because I don't have as much inflammation and fatigue.

Grad stories
It has recruited my husband (big win).
I'm not a natural cook and it takes a lot of my energy to plan and prep… BUT when I prep several meals and have healthy options at the ready it feels so nice. Did I complete this cleanse? Heck no! It fell in a month where we had multiple kids home sick, snow days, and a trip. HOWEVER…

Grad stories
I feel like the best version of myself.
I got so many compliments about how I looked… not just about the weight-loss but about glowing skin. I feel like the best version of myself when I'm eating plant-based… and have this 21-day cleanse to thank for that!

Grad stories
I wish I had known about this in my 40's.
I am 69, and I can honestly say adopting this lifestyle would have saved years of misery and expense due to medical issues.

Grad stories
I've been changed for the better.
Now, I know what foods make me feel great and give me tons of energy. It's like I was a caterpillar that emerged from its cocoon and turned into a beautiful butterfly. I'm not looking back.
A note from Jen
If you’re on the fence, I was too
Would the recipes actually be good? Would I just bounce right back to my old habits? Was it worth eating 100% plant-based for three weeks? Then about eight days in, I was hooked. Less bloated. Sleeping like a rock. Energy through the roof.
Most cleanses end and leave you exactly where you started — or worse, hooked on a product you have to rebuy. This one is different on purpose: you learn to cook real food, so you walk away with skills that don’t run out when the box is empty.
And if you’re nervous about the food? Remember — this is literally what I do. I make plant-based food that’s so good you forget it’s “healthy.” Because healthy should be tasty.

Not likely. The recipe portions are deliberately generous to accommodate even the largest appetites. This is not a starvation diet, it is a celebration of food, flavor, and abundance. We are not counting calories. You will be eating three to five times each day (breakfast, mid-morning snack, lunch, afternoon snack, and dinner, if you choose to.) This cleanse is not designed to starve you, and you’re not limited in the number of times you eat, or the amount you eat – only in what you eat. If you do get hunger pangs, make sure that you’re really hungry, and not just bored or thirsty. If it’s a case of real hunger, go for one of the bonus snack recipes, a piece of fruit, or a small handful of nuts, or seeds. One tip to avoid hunger is to chew your green smoothie. This may sound silly, but the chewing action signals your body that food is on the way, and triggers the digestive processes.
Nope — and that’s the whole point. This cleanse runs entirely on real food you buy at your regular grocery store. No proprietary box, no capsules, no subscription. You’ll learn to cook with whole ingredients so your results actually last once the 21 days are up.
You may have many of the staple ingredients in your kitchen already (avocado oil, raw cashews, maple syrup, ground cumin, nutritional yeast, coconut oil, etc). If you do not, the first shop typically costs about $150. Then, once your kitchen is set up, we estimate the cost of the produce to be between $100 per week. If you choose to supplement the plant-based recipes with high quality animal protein like organic chicken breast or cage free eggs, your grocery bill will be higher.
And remember — you’re buying real groceries, not a $400+ box of powders you’ll run out of. Most of this is food you’d be shopping for anyway, just put to much better use.
If you struggle with getting quality sleep, we advise omitting coffee throughout the cleanse. You will get the best results and many cleanse grads choose to stay off coffee after the cleanse because they feel so great. If you and coffee aren’t ready to break up, we suggest having just one cup in the morning to support quality rest and sleep.
If you want the full benefit of cleansing your body, stick with the plan as close as possible. Our detox meals are crafted by our holistic nutritionist for optimal cleansing. This is not a vacation, it’s a cleanse. Yet of course if you truly cannot stand cilantro, turmeric or fennel, you can substitute them out for something you do enjoy, or choose another meal.
Of course— life must go on! The 21-Day Cleanse is a flexible program that you can follow while living your life with family and friends. Using the weekly meal plans and recipes will help you get great results. But, you can still get good results by sticking to the recommended foods lists. You can eat “off meal plan”, eat out, and travel during the program— feel free to ask for tips inside the community to help you the most.
You may experience short-term symptoms like: headaches, bloating, muscle cramps, skin irritations, fatigue, irritability, mood swings, or change in bowel frequency. These symptoms are completely normal and expected.
It usually takes between 2-5 days to complete the withdrawal phase of the 21-Day Cleanse, yet it’s absolutely worth it. Giving your body a break from stimulants will allow your organs to heal and your body to recharge fully. Remember, these symptoms are proof that the cleanse is working and your body is getting the care it needs.
You’ll definitely spend more time in the kitchen throughout the cleanse. In some ways, this is like a crash course plant-based cooking school. I highly suggest following our prep guide to make most of the smoothies, snacks and meals over the weekend. Breakfast is a smoothie (10 minutes), lunch is a reheated soup or quick salad (15 minutes) and dinners will range from 15 minutes – 1 hour to prepare. The good news is, the dinners repeat so you make once and reheat for another evening to give you a break in the kitchen.
We know all about busy schedules here, which is why we’ve provided a weekend prep guide that saves you tons of time during the week. If you’re working and have a full schedule, expect to spend 3-4 hours shopping and prepping on the weekends to make each cleanse week stress-free and enjoyable. The cleanse gives you a wonderful opportunity to really listen to your body. It’s an individual experience that differs for everyone. Depending on the level of toxicity in your body, there may be some less- than-amazing symptoms in the first 3–5 days, such as headaches, nausea, fatigue, skin irritations, etc. Once you hit day five, these should only be distant memories, and you’ll be well on your way to greatness. But some people sail through the entire cleansing period with no side effects at all. You may feel amazing throughout the entire cleanse, or your energy may wax and wane a little.
This cleanse is great for most people, yet you should avoid cleansing in the following situations: advanced cancer, under 16 years of age, if you have an eating disorder, kidney or liver disease, and if you’re underweight. If you have a blood sugar regulation issue (diabetes, hyperglycemia, hypoglycemia) or any other medical condition, you should seek your doctor’s advice before undertaking a cleanse. If you’re pregnant or breastfeeding, you can absolutely do the cleanse with some modifications. If this is you, let us know and we can give you specific tweaks to the program to make sure you’re benefitting your baby and body.
You may find that you have more energy than normal—and more motivation! Why waste it? Get moving! Be mindful that you may need to take it down a notch though as your body adjust to the new way of eating. If you normally exercise fairly intensely, reduce your output until you feel strong and energized.
If you don’t normally work out, you would do well to include some regular walking, yoga, swimming or gardening during this time. Try to sneak in some incidental exercise, such as getting off the train or bus one or two stops early and walking the rest of the way. Or park further away from the entrance to the grocery store and walk.
Absolutely. My husband loves our cleanses — the clear plans, the tasty recipes, and how good he feels by the end. Just double the grocery list and recipes so there’s enough for you both.
We offer a 7-day money back guarantee. Enroll now and get 7 days to go through the Week 1 Nutrition Plan, share it with your doctor, try a recipe or three, and say hello to your fellow cleansers in the private support group. If you decide it’s not for you, send us an email within 7 days of purchase and I’ll refund you. I’m that confident that when you commit to this cleanse, you’ll see results… and keep them going. You have nothing to lose but so much to gain when you go plant-based for 21 days.
Reviews
What grads say after 21 days of real food.
My husband and I really liked the menu plan – some of those snacks and drinks are my go-to favourites! The plan is definitely an easy accomplishment when factoring in 2 people and meals for kids, even my 2 yo enjoys some of the snacks and smoothies:) I have every SGS product and I recreate a number of the dishes frequently from all of the meal plans, we haven’t had a bad meal yet!
Initially I thought,”Self you are a carnivore! You can just go without eating meat! YOULL DIE!” -giggling- Not only were the recipes pretty easy but they sustained me like a meal. AND I DID NOT DIE! I’m glad I tried it and look forward to trying it in the 23rd.
The food is delicious! 7 days is the perfect amount of time for a the cleanse and to refocus! Can’t wait to jump into a second round.
I bought the cleanse before purchasing 21-day cleanse, and it is a perfect and easy way to get started and familiarized with plant-based eating! Also the recipes are always delicious. I was always impressed! I became a vegetarian shortly before purchasing this program and it was a great way to know what and how I should be eating. But you definitely don’t have to be a vegetarian to enjoy the recipes…my family also enjoyed the smoothies and dinners I made for myself. I also love that it is just seven days, because it feels easier for me to follow. My favorite recipes are the tamari almonds (I’d never tried tamari before and I even experimented with it in my stir-fries)…so good! I also enjoyed the coconut soup, the spiced almond milk, and Bliss green smoothie. All of these are so good and just require a few ingredients. Awesome plan to follow indeed!:)
This cleanse is amazing because it never felt like a cleanse. I was always full and satisfied and there were many ways to change small things that fit my taste buds best but still followed the rules. I also really appreciated being eased into the cleanse, the first week was an easy adjustment, the second week was a bit more challenging but I felt prepared for it. And th third week totally prepared me for life after the cleanse! Loved it!
I will say it wasn’t an easy journey, but a fulfilling one! I can’t wait for the next one to come out. I liked how it was seasonal, so using seasonal ingredients was a huge plus. It was a little easier for me to start it because I already ate a lot of the foods in the cleanse, but being consistent with eating those foods on a daily basis is something I wasn’t doing, so that was my challenge. My skin was the biggest change, as I was struggling with Eczema and that cleared and everyone kept telling me I was glowing. I also had more energy and felt great by the end of the 3rd week. It also is helping me stay on track so I can continue to fill this way. I would like to do this every season throughout the year!
I tried the Fresh Start 21 in early 2013 and have thought about and used some of the tools I’ve learned since then! The recipes are easy to follow and so tasty. Learning some of the right ways to feed your body and when are so helpful to overall health and wellness. It’s definitely something I plan to do again in the future when I’m feeling off-track. Thank you to the SGS team for putting this together and making it delicious!
I’m a long time reader (and recipe maker) of your site. Your awesomeness really came into its own when I was planning to get pregnant. At the time we knew we wanted to start a family but I was waiting to start trying until after my best friend’s wedding where I was chief bridesmaid so I could join in all the frivolity. That time was full of eating, drinking and merriment. When it was all over I felt as if I’d neglected my body, I wasn’t eating great, wasn’t doing much exercise. It didn’t feel like my body was in great shape to create a new human! So I decided to do the cleanse. I really needed it, I loved having the meal plan and really enjoyed the vibrancy and freshness of the food. I also got inspired by Jen’s blogs to get moving and went running or walking everyday. The movement and fresh air did wonders for my well being. Anyhow, after doing the cleanse I felt much better in myself and we started trying for a baby. Three weeks later I was pregnant! During those nauseous first trimester weeks I continued to use some recipes from the cleanse including the turmeric tonic which settled my tummy in the mornings. The Tamari Almonds were the perfect protein filled snack when I could manage actual food and the Agua Fresca Popsicles were great to have on hand in the freezer when I couldn’t face any other food! It was great to have these quick healthy options on hand. Your articles on boosting smoothies and protein were a lifesaver too. After I came out of the haze that was the first trimester (constant nausea) I was suddenly starving ALL the time. I was looking for meals to satisfy my cravings but also ways to up my protein as a vegan mama to be. I had the Apple Cinnamon “donuts” a bajillion times (for the hit of protein and to satisfy sweet cravings and on rotation even more now my protein needs have gone up now I’m breastfeeding).I also craved something creamy and sweet in the evenings and the Spiced Almond Remix really hit the spot and saved me from grabbing something sugary. There are countless recipes I’ve made and enjoyed from your site and programmes so just wanted to say THAAAANKS. the cleanse got me back on the right track after a time of excess and sluggishness and I kept the principles going afterwards, keeping up with giving my body tasty nutritious food and getting outside. When I was pregnant (I now have a little baby) I was so, so worried about getting enough nutrients and protein and you andc (without eating anything from a creature).
While there is a lot of prep (fresh veggies needs lots of chopping), it’s well worth it and I never feel hungry. The shopping list and prep tips are really helpful to get organized. As usual, the recipes are delicious and I find new favorites every time I try a new plan. By the end, I’m feeling great (and lost seven pounds to boot)!
Everything about this week was great! It was so easy to follow due to the prep-ahead work (my key to success.) In addition to the tips provided, I made all my smoothies on the Sunday before, labeled in airtight mason jars, which made it super easy. I don’t think there was anything I didn’t like; the morning tonic took getting used to, but by the end of week I was almost looking forward to it. I I loved the almonds so much I keep some handy for snacks now, which can be a problem for me because I keep eating them! I dropped about 7lbs and plan to do cleanse every few months to re-address the habits and feel great! Another great cleanse by SGS that is changing my eating habits and best of all, changing my life! Thank you!!!
Gave me just the right amount of time to get back into my smoothie flow. HO HO HO
The food in the cleanse is easy to prepare and delicious from the morning tonic to the evening spiced milk. Between the shopping list and the prep guide, it’s easier to be on plan than not!
I loved the smoothies and the double smoothie made the meal plan really easy for a working mom. I found that about half of the snacks were good…there were a couple meals and snacks that were not edible for myself or husband. Overall, the cleanse is a step in the right direction. I always try to walk away from a cleanse with a couple habits I can keep up. The double smoothie (breakfast and lunch) and almond inspired snacks are mine from this one.
I found my health again, physically and mentally! My blood sugars were near perfect. The skin glow isn’t a myth, as I found my skin glowing in ways I never thought possible. I found myself looking forward to each day and each new recipe. I’ve always tried to eat healthy and I’ve tried many different cleanse plans, but I can’t say enough wonderful things about the meal plans, the beautiful pictures, and the tips offered in 21-day cleanse.
Let me first start by saying I LOVE SGS and I’ve purchased ALL of their meal plans. This cleanse guide is thoroughly laid out and alleviates so much confusion and anxiety. However, it cost over $350 to double the shopping list for week one just so both my husband and I could do the cleanse. And 5 days in and we’ve only enjoyed 1 meal so far. There’s a big difference in taste between the Dinner Plans (which we rave about) and the cleanse meals. The ingredients aren’t that different; the Dinner Plans are also vegan friendly, but these meals are just odd. They might work for a die hard vegan, but for an average person like me, it’s to hardcore for the palate. We have wasted so much food/money from cooking, tasting and setting aside most meals until they aren’t fresh enough to eat anymore. And we’re seriously considering just cutting our losses and not proceeding into week 2. We have the willpower, just not the stomach and recipes like chia pudding (slimy), beet hummus and sunflower marinara just wasn’t cutting it for us. Back to the dinner plans and green smoothies we go.
