Berry Banana Smoothie

This Berry Banana Smoothie is a creamy, dreamy blend of spinach, strawberries, blueberries, banana, and coconut milk.

It’s no secret that we here at SGS love our berry smoothies! Berries are one of nature’s healthiest superfoods. Loaded with tons of antioxidants and anti-inflammatory properties, vitamins, and minerals, berries are definitely something to keep on hand at all times.

We developed this Banana Berry Smoothie with red, white, and blue ingredients as we celebrated the summer US holidays. You’ll love sipping on an ice cold berry smoothie on the 4th of July – promise! And really, a Banana Berry Smoothie is always good for sipping.

The Best Places To Buy Frozen Fruit

In the wintertime I rely on frozen fruit. I like to buy big bags of organic berries from Costco because you can’t beat the price! It costs a bit up front, but they last for a long time and the cost evens out.

Other times I head to Trader Joe’s because their frozen fruit is high quality and budget-friendly.

Berries and Bananas: The Truth

Want to hear something funny? Did you know bananas are actually berries? It’s true! The tropical fruit we associate with monkeys are an aggregate fruit having grown from a single flower with more than one ovary. They are classified as a berry. Though “true berries” come from one flour and one ovary and have numerous seeds.

Want to hear another funny thing? Strawberries aren’t really berries. And neither are raspberries or blackberries. Crazy, right? (I won’t go into all the details, but if you’re curious, this article is very interesting.)

But for the sake of tradition, we’ll call bananas bananas and berries berries. 😉

Berry Banana Smoothie

Now here’s a creamy dreamy Berry Banana Smoothie! I like to use frozen bananas in this one to make it extra cold, almost like a milk shake.

Is that a typo in the calorie count? How come so high in Cals verses the other smoothies?

Thank you for bringing that to our attention. That was a typo and we have updated the caloric information now.

After making this smoothie I somehow was distracted and accidentally poured most of it in the sink versus my jar! So sad but I did manage to salvage about 1/4 of it by the time I realized what I was doing. Tasted delicious! I plan on making it again over the weekend as a freestyle smoothie. This time I will have a whole one!
