Simple Green Tea Smoothie

There is something refreshing about green tea.  And sometimes, you just want to take your green smoothie to the next level or give it that extra kick.  This simple green tea smoothie is just the thing to brighten your day.  Adding green tea to your smoothie can give it that extra kick you want and what a great way to get some added antioxidants into our bodies.  Check out Simple Green Smoothies post about changing up your green smoothie liquid-base HERE.

I love using organic matcha green tea powder to make my green tea.  I like DoMatcha and Republic of Tea.  There are many other great green teas out there to choose from, so choose what’s best for you (and please share in comments below!).  You can definitely use bagged tea as well.

Below is the recipe for Simple Green Tea Smoothie… I really love the combination of these ingredients in this smoothie.  Super delicious! We are on the cusp of something great and wonderful by spreading the word about green smoothies and raw food.

Simple Green Tea Smoothie

  • Prep Time: 5 minutes
  • Total Time: 5 minutes
  • Yield: 2 1x
  • Category: Breakfast, Drinks



  • 2 cups fresh spinach
  • 1 cup green tea (brewed)
  • 1 1/2 cups green grapes
  • 1 banana (frozen)
  • 1 cup mango


  1. Freeze your banana overnight
  2. Blend all the ingredients together in a high speed blender until smooth and enjoy.

    I made this with a fresh banana and frozen mango, added chia seeds and plant based protein powder. Best smoothie EVER!

    Is it okay to use the leaves directly, non-brewed? I heard somewhere that if you use the leaves ( I use directly from the tea bag) and eat them, it is equal to 10 brewed green teas. I am just wondering if anyone can tell me if that is true and if it is healthy. Thanks

    Great question! We suggest brewing the green tea prior to blending.

    Hi Vicky,

    Tinned fruits are those stored in syrup or their own juice in a can or plastic container. We suggest not using them in our recipes, due to the added sugar. Instead we prefer to reach for fresh or frozen fruit!

    I have bag of green tea with mint is that ok to use with spinach and the banana. I’m diabetic so have to really watch my sugar intake.

    Hey Mary,

    Yes you can definitely use that and cut out the grapes and mango if you need to. It won’t be as sweet but you might prefer it that way.
