Here at SGS we like taking our favorite desserts and sweet treats and turning them into a healthier green smoothie. Case in point, this Carrot Cake Smoothie.
The thing that makes carrot cake so yummy is that blend of sweet carrots, spices (especially ginger and cinnamon), and creamy frosting. Well, this carrot cake smoothie does not contain creamy frosting. But it does include almond milk. Almost the same, right? 😉
For me carrot cake isn’t carrot cake without pineapple. Mmm! Carrots and pineapple are a match made in cake heaven.
Why You Should Blend With Ginger
Ginger is one of the most powerful anti-inflammatory foods. The spicy, warm flavor touches just about every cuisine around the world. It makes everything better, including a warm mug our famous Morning Tonic first thing in the morning.

Carrot Cake Smoothie vs. Carrot Cake
I’m not going to tell you that you have to swap the “cake” for a nutrient-packed smoothie. Of course there is room for a big slice of carrot cake! But I also like to look at my daily meals as a chance to pack in as much plant-based nutrients as I can. If my green smoothie happens to taste like carrot or red velvet cake, so bet it.

Swap the “cake” for a nutrient-packed Carrot Cake Smoothie! The fresh ginger aids in inflammation, which will happen on a long run or a day of intervals. So gulp this one down and let it do its work!
- 1 cup fresh spinach
- 3/4 cup almond milk, unsweetened
- 1 large carrot
- 1/4” fresh ginger, peeled
- 1/2 cup pineapple
- 1/2 banana
- Blend spinach and almond milk together until smooth.
- Add remaining ingredients and blend again.
- Use at least one frozen fruit to make the smoothie cold or serve over ice.
- Can chop and steam carrots to make them easier to blend, or leave them raw.
