Looking for a new smoothie to help you jumpstart your day? This Digestion Boosting Green Smoothie with MCT Oil is the thing to help you out! Drink this yummy smoothie first thing in the morning to help fuel you through a workout and help get things moving (if ya know what I mean).

If you’re new to our friend MCT oil, allow me to give you a quick rundown. MCT stands for “medium-chain triglycerides” which are a form of saturated fatty acid found in coconut oil. They are composed of caprylic and capric fatty acids. Around 62-65% of the fat in coconut oil comes from MCTs (the Nutiva brand of MCT oil that I mention below contains 93% MCTs).  MCTs are easily digested for quick energy.

So MCT oil is basically high quality energy … in a bottle.

Digestion Boost Green Smoothie with MCT Oil

Description

A refreshing green smoothie made with fresh veggies and fruit with a hint of ginger and cilantro, and MCT oil to help jumpstart your morning.


Scale

Ingredients

  • 1 cup fresh spinach
  • 2 tablespoons fresh cilantro
  • 2 teaspoons fresh ginger (chopped)
  • 1/2 cup filtered water
  • 1 cup cucumber (diced, peeled if desired)
  • 1 medium green apple (cored, peeled if desired)
  • 1 tablespoon fresh lemon juice
  • 13 tsp Nutiva Organic MCT Oil

Instructions

  1. Place spinach, cilantro, ginger and water into blender jar. 
  2. Blend until smooth and leafy chunks are gone. 
  3. Add cucumber, apple, lemon juice, and Nutiva MCT oil to blender. 
  4. Blend again until smooth.
  5. Serve immediately or refrigerate for up to one day.

Notes

Start with 1 tsp MCT oil and work up to the full 3 tsp to prevent stomach discomfort. Seriously, this stuff is powerful! To make this smoothie cold, serve over ice. #easypeasy

      So glad you enjoyed this article! Yes, you can store this in the fridge in an air tight container for two days. If you want your smoothie to keep it’s pretty green color, just add some lemon juice to it. Once your ready to drink, give it a shake, and you are good to go!

      Hi Margie, I’m David. I suspect it wold be hard for anyone to answer your question who is not a MD and aware of your health situation. It would probably have liability issues if you took advice and something happened to you. I am not a doctor or certified in any way to give advice on health or nutrition. I do try to eat healthy and learn as much as I can about this topic. For the last three weeks I have been following a Ketogenic diet. During this time I have been researching and studying everything I can about it. My understanding is that the Ketogenic diet can help people to loose weight and recover from certain diseases I believe cardiac diseases is one of them. Do your own research I subscribe to www.dietdoctor.com , I am reading a book by Mark Sisson and another by Leanne Vogel and have watched many videos about Keto dieting. Nina Teicholz, Dr. Ken Berry, Dr. Jason Fund, Thomas Delauer, Dr. Sen Ekberg and Dr. Eric Berg. One of these Doctors my answer your question.

    I super love green fruits and vegetable smoothies, purees and juices. I’ve been always looking for a delicious and healthy recipes, I would love to try this at home and I will surely did. Green smoothies has a super nice effect on me it always boost my energy in my everyday routines. I just love experimenting different kind of fruits and vegetables blended in my Vitamix Blender it helps my smoothies to become more appetizing.     What is the other 7% in this oil? Thanks!

      Hey Shari. The other 7% is Lauric Acid (c12), which is often considered a MCT in many brands, yet it’s a longer chain than the other MCTs — Caproic Acid (C6), Caprylic Acid (C8) and Capric Acid (c10).
