Tasty Turmeric Tea Recipe

Ginger and turmeric are great for fighting inflammation along. Imagine what they can do TOGETHER in this tasty Turmeric Tea Recipe. You can find this and 100+ recipes in my new book, Simple Green Meals.

Turmeric is one of the trendiest superfoods right now. I am not one to follow the trends, unless it’ s warranted and I think this one is. Yet to maximizes the natural antioxidants of turmeric, you need to combine it with other beneficial spices and a little bit of fat. My 5-minute Turmeric Tea does all of that for you… and some. 🙂

Why a Turmeric Drink is a must have

  1. I love sipping on this natural warming drink on a cold morning after the kids go off to school.
  2. Turmeric is a natural anti-inflammatory and for runners like me, my joints can use all the help I can get!
  3. Ginger helps reduce bloating and indigestion.
Golden Turmeric Milk

Get ready for your favorite new night time drink with my Turmeric Tea Recipe that you can make in 5 minutes or less!

Golden Turmeric Tea

  • Yield: 1 Serving 1x

Turmeric and ginger are superheros when it comes to fighting inflammation. They are also really good for warming up your insides on a cold night, which is when you’ll find me sipping on this drink. I know the black pepper may seem strange, but it’s essential for the efficacy of the turmeric. If the turmeric flavor is too strong for you, feel free to start with less and work up to as much as you can tolerate.

1/2 teaspoon ground turmeric

1/4 teaspoon ground cinnamon

Pinch of ground black pepper

1/2 teaspoon grated fresh ginger

1 cup canned full-fat coconut milk

1 tablespoon raw honey

1 tablespoon organic virgin coconut oil

  1. In a small saucepan, combine the turmeric, cinnamon, pepper, and ginger.
  2. Whisk in the coconut milk, honey, and oil.
  3. Heat over medium heat for 5 minutes, until very hot but not boiling.
  4. Pour into a blender and carefully blend on low until frothy.

I see you are using 1 Tbsp in your video but the recipe shows 1 tsp. Is it just a matter of how sweet you want it?

  3. Bev

    September 6th, 2018 at 8:48 pm

Sorry I forgot to put the ingredient. It is the Honey in the recipe.

    Hey Bev,

Feel free to add more or less of the maple syrup! If you prefer a sweeter taste then don’t be afraid to add a little more sweetness to it.

    Cheers! 🙂

I love this so much, but I’m curious, for cost purposes, would this be as effective with almond milk? Thanks!

  8. SGS Rawkstar Amanda

    September 10th, 2018 at 2:46 pm

    Hey Heather,

Almond milk would be a great substitute for coconut milk. We love filling up with healthy fats but if you would rather not use coconut milk that is totally fine.

HI! I love the ingredients, but I cannot have coconut milk. If substituting unsweetened almond milk, would adding half an avocado or some flax seed oil be good for adding back some good fats?

Is there any reason this couldn’t be make in a bigger batch and stored in the refrigerator?

  17. Jen Jones

    September 12th, 2018 at 12:12 pm

Is the black pepper essential to the recipe? I don’t tend to add pepper to anything since I don’t really like the taste of it, but don’t want to exclude it if it’s beneficial to the overall concoction!

I’m curious about the turmeric milk as its not something I typically cook with. Looking forward to adding it into my beverage rotation as I LOVE the spiced almond milk from the spring cleanse!

  34. Tega Edwin

    September 19th, 2018 at 9:05 am

This looks so comforting… does the blending impact the flavor at all or just the texture?

  35. SGS Rawkstar Amanda

    September 19th, 2018 at 12:48 pm

    Hey Tega,

It is so comforting and makes you want to snuggle up in a blanket and binge watch Netflix 🙂

The blending will help with both. Making sure it is blender completely will make the flavors mess together well and also avoid any powder chunks.
