Grad stories

I'm sleeping better, I'm happier and have more energy.

I've been walking every day with my dog or by myself with a book and doing strength training, which feels great. I've lost 7 pounds and have a better outlook because I don't have as much inflammation and fatigue.

★★★★★Lynette C.

A note from Jen

If you’re on the fence, I was too

Would the recipes actually be good? Would I just bounce right back to my old habits? Was it worth eating 100% plant-based for three weeks? Then about eight days in, I was hooked. Less bloated. Sleeping like a rock. Energy through the roof.

Most cleanses end and leave you exactly where you started — or worse, hooked on a product you have to rebuy. This one is different on purpose: you learn to cook real food, so you walk away with skills that don’t run out when the box is empty.

And if you’re nervous about the food? Remember — this is literally what I do. I make plant-based food that’s so good you forget it’s “healthy.” Because healthy should be tasty.

Common Questions

Will I be hungry while on a detox body cleanse?

Not likely. The recipe portions are deliberately generous to accommodate even the largest appetites. This is not a starvation diet, it is a celebration of food, flavor, and abundance. We are not counting calories. You will be eating three to five times each day (breakfast, mid-morning snack, lunch, afternoon snack, and dinner, if you choose to.) This cleanse is not designed to starve you, and you’re not limited in the number of times you eat, or the amount you eat – only in what you eat. If you do get hunger pangs, make sure that you’re really hungry, and not just bored or thirsty. If it’s a case of real hunger, go for one of the bonus snack recipes, a piece of fruit, or a small handful of nuts, or seeds. One tip to avoid hunger is to chew your green smoothie. This may sound silly, but the chewing action signals your body that food is on the way, and triggers the digestive processes.

Do I need to buy any powders, shakes, or supplements?

Nope — and that’s the whole point. This cleanse runs entirely on real food you buy at your regular grocery store. No proprietary box, no capsules, no subscription. You’ll learn to cook with whole ingredients so your results actually last once the 21 days are up.

How much will the groceries cost on the 21-day cleanse?

You may have many of the staple ingredients in your kitchen already (avocado oil, raw cashews, maple syrup, ground cumin, nutritional yeast, coconut oil, etc). If you do not, the first shop typically costs about $150. Then, once your kitchen is set up, we estimate the cost of the produce to be between $100 per week. If you choose to supplement the plant-based recipes with high quality animal protein like organic chicken breast or cage free eggs, your grocery bill will be higher.

And remember — you’re buying real groceries, not a $400+ box of powders you’ll run out of. Most of this is food you’d be shopping for anyway, just put to much better use.

Can I have coffee and tea while cleansing?

If you struggle with getting quality sleep, we advise omitting coffee throughout the cleanse. You will get the best results and many cleanse grads choose to stay off coffee after the cleanse because they feel so great. If you and coffee aren’t ready to break up, we suggest having just one cup in the morning to support quality rest and sleep.

What if I can’t have certain nuts, veggies, fruits, etc.?

If you want the full benefit of cleansing your body, stick with the plan as close as possible. Our detox meals are crafted by our holistic nutritionist for optimal cleansing. This is not a vacation, it’s a cleanse. Yet of course if you truly cannot stand cilantro, turmeric or fennel, you can substitute them out for something you do enjoy, or choose another meal.

Can I go out to eat while cleansing?

Of course— life must go on! The 21-Day Cleanse is a flexible program that you can follow while living your life with family and friends. Using the weekly meal plans and recipes will help you get great results. But, you can still get good results by sticking to the recommended foods lists. You can eat “off meal plan”, eat out, and travel during the program— feel free to ask for tips inside the community to help you the most.

What are the side effects of the cleanse?

You may experience short-term symptoms like: headaches, bloating, muscle cramps, skin irritations, fatigue, irritability, mood swings, or change in bowel frequency. These symptoms are completely normal and expected.

It usually takes between 2-5 days to complete the withdrawal phase of the 21-Day Cleanse, yet it’s absolutely worth it. Giving your body a break from stimulants will allow your organs to heal and your body to recharge fully. Remember, these symptoms are proof that the cleanse is working and your body is getting the care it needs.

How long does the food prep take?

You’ll definitely spend more time in the kitchen throughout the cleanse. In some ways, this is like a crash course plant-based cooking school. I highly suggest following our prep guide to make most of the smoothies, snacks and meals over the weekend. Breakfast is a smoothie (10 minutes), lunch is a reheated soup or quick salad (15 minutes) and dinners will range from 15 minutes – 1 hour to prepare. The good news is, the dinners repeat so you make once and reheat for another evening to give you a break in the kitchen.

I have a crazy busy schedule, is this realistic for me?

We know all about busy schedules here, which is why we’ve provided a weekend prep guide that saves you tons of time during the week. If you’re working and have a full schedule, expect to spend 3-4 hours shopping and prepping on the weekends to make each cleanse week stress-free and enjoyable. The cleanse gives you a wonderful opportunity to really listen to your body. It’s an individual experience that differs for everyone. Depending on the level of toxicity in your body, there may be some less- than-amazing symptoms in the first 3–5 days, such as headaches, nausea, fatigue, skin irritations, etc. Once you hit day five, these should only be distant memories, and you’ll be well on your way to greatness. But some people sail through the entire cleansing period with no side effects at all. You may feel amazing throughout the entire cleanse, or your energy may wax and wane a little.

Who shouldn’t do a cleanse?

This cleanse is great for most people, yet you should avoid cleansing in the following situations: advanced cancer, under 16 years of age, if you have an eating disorder, kidney or liver disease, and if you’re underweight. If you have a blood sugar regulation issue (diabetes, hyperglycemia, hypoglycemia) or any other medical condition, you should seek your doctor’s advice before undertaking a cleanse. If you’re pregnant or breastfeeding, you can absolutely do the cleanse with some modifications. If this is you, let us know and we can give you specific tweaks to the program to make sure you’re benefitting your baby and body.

Can I workout during the cleanse?

You may find that you have more energy than normal—and more motivation! Why waste it? Get moving! Be mindful that you may need to take it down a notch though as your body adjust to the new way of eating. If you normally exercise fairly intensely, reduce your output until you feel strong and energized.

If you don’t normally work out, you would do well to include some regular walking, yoga, swimming or gardening during this time. Try to sneak in some incidental exercise, such as getting off the train or bus one or two stops early and walking the rest of the way. Or park further away from the entrance to the grocery store and walk.

Can my husband do this with me?

Absolutely. My husband loves our cleanses — the clear plans, the tasty recipes, and how good he feels by the end. Just double the grocery list and recipes so there’s enough for you both.

What is your refund policy?

We offer a 7-day money back guarantee. Enroll now and get 7 days to go through the Week 1 Nutrition Plan, share it with your doctor, try a recipe or three, and say hello to your fellow cleansers in the private support group. If you decide it’s not for you, send us an email within 7 days of purchase and I’ll refund you. I’m that confident that when you commit to this cleanse, you’ll see results… and keep them going. You have nothing to lose but so much to gain when you go plant-based for 21 days.

FABULOUS! FABULOUS! FABULOUS!! Thank you Jen! I was on the fence about signing up, but I am so glad I did. I learned so much in the last 3 weeks. How to be more organized, weekly food prep makes things so easy, no wasted food by the end of the week it’s all used up, wipe out the fridge and go shopping—-with a list! Recipes are great. 2 soups in 1 week is a bit much. I had never cooked with fennel or Swiss chard, I planted both in my garden. No coffee for 2 1/2 weeks, I thought that was crazy. I drink 2-3 cups per day. Honestly, I don’t miss it. I feel alert, not foggy and lots of energy. Lost some weight and no inflammation. I have even started doing walk/jog again with no foot pain. I do miss chocolate and need to find a substitute snack. Jen you are the gal we all wanted in the office lunchroom handing out our weekly dinner plan and shopping list to avoid the after work scramble to make dinner for our family. No inflammation, weight loss, feel great and less stressed. My mind is clear. My cupboards are organized!

Thank you 100x for having everything so organized. The week’s recipes at a glance made it easy to figure out how to switch meals around, if necessary. The Grocery List made shopping so much less stressful. Having an interactive pdf was great. And, the recipes are Amazing! I wasn’t able to do the cleanse along with your schedule so I just finished week 1. I’m looking forward to doing Weeks 2 and 3. During Week 1 my weight went steadily down.

I joined the cleanse because I have done others in past and enjoyed and saw results in past. But the difference was I committed to doing it all with no cheats! The first few days are always tough in a cleanse because I do drink coffee every day or I should say I did . After those first few days, then it’s pretty easy, I never felt hungry. I was always intrigued by the recipes. Some of the recipes I really really liked, there were a couple of the smoothies that I didn’t really care for, but I did them anyways and I’m glad that I did. There were a few standout recipes, like the hummus and the inflammatory smoothie and the roasted vegetables that I will use again and again and again. I really enjoyed the community this time and tried to contribute and found that contributing really does make it better, I am someone who needs external motivation and so hearing from the community really helped me keep going forward. My favorite was the last check that was kind of a small group of people on zoom and it was , very nice and good to hear from others. The prep did take quite a bit of time and so I got more savvy at budgeting my time for prep, and the last week was not well prepped, but ended up turning out great. I didn’t gain any more confidence in the kitchen because I have been cooking and trying new recipes for many many years, but it really allowed me to see some different flavor combos which was really helpful. I started doing the morning smoothies every day and I find that I really like them again. My husband has noticed I’m sleeping better and I am happier and have more energy. I have been walking every day with my dog or by myself with a book and also doing some Strength training, which feels great. All in all this cleanse was wonderful, I’ve lost 7 pounds and just have a better outlook because I don’t have as much inflammation and fatigue. I Lost 7 pounds, I’m sleeping better. I am handling stress better. I am happier according to my husband.

I decided to join the Spring Cleanse because I enjoy challenging myself with new, health-enhancing skills. Despite working in a busy hospital environment, I managed to go three weeks without coffee and felt energized from the breakfast smoothies and snacks. The recipes were fantastic, and I followed all of them successfully. Trying ingredients, I had never used before motivated me to incorporate more vegetables into my diet. Weekly meal prep was crucial for staying on track, especially with my hectic schedule. I lost 6 pounds just eating healthy. I plan to continue using many of these recipes in my daily routine. This is a great plan. I’ll recommend it to all my friends. I lost 6 pounds just eating healthy. I managed to go three weeks without coffee and sugar. I tried new recipes and use ingredients in a different manner I have not tried before.

I joined the spring cleanse to help me break my sugar addiction and to get into the habit of cooking and prepping my meals and it did not disappoint. While the weekly prepping was sometimes difficult/long, the most challenging part was fitting it all into my tiny fridge, but I managed. While I haven’t seen an increase in energy, I am definitely feeling happier with the volume of food I can eat with this diet. After 3 weeks, I feel like a better cook, and am more confident with adjusting the recipes to suit my tastes and what I have on hand, and I have lost 8 lbs! Lost 8 lbs Made cooking for myself a habit Spent quality time with my mother (we did it together), shopping and cooking Increased my nutrient intake with all the amazing produce Discovered new tastes and flavours that I like No mid-day sleep attacks

I can’t believe how quickly my cravings for other foods went way! 4 days in I wasn’t interested in baked goods, which is insane. 😆 I loved the recipes and my body is so happy to be eating nutrient dense foods. I wasn’t hungry on this plan, but if I had gotten hungry I loved Jen’s support in eating bigger portions and added snacks (this is NOT a diet! It is truly about listening to and nourishing your body). I love making changes in a mindful and body positive way! I am (weirdly) uninterested in caffeine or sugar! I’ve now done things that used to heavily involve those things (plane rides, special events, family day at the beach) without “needing” those things at all. I’ve lost some weight (quite a bit actually) but more importantly I know I’m feeding my body the foods it needs to thrive. I want to be healthy and strong and I’m looking forward to my next round of bloodwork after recently finding I’m pre-diabetic. 🤞

Joined to: push for better health, find relief from cronic inflammation. Enjoyed the very detailed, thought out program. It was frustrating when I couldn’t find produce to exactly match the recipes: but the feedback in the community reinforced that personalizing the program was OK. Appreciate that now have the program to “try again”. The online feedback times didn’t seem to come together for me to interact in real time – but still very helpful when using replayed information. Enjoyed it – thank you for your program. Wins: I did it – had to modify sometimes – but kept going. I can ditch coffee – and my sleeping quality did improve.

I am a former personal chef and I’d like to report that this cleanse absolutely exceeded my expectations! It was so well organized – I knew exactly what groceries to buy, what to prep on Sunday to make the week so easy, and what to eat when. Then, I found the food DELICIOUS! I love the new feelings of energy and lightness that take over a few days into the cleanse and this inspires me to be better at incorporating plant based foods and cleanse practices into my daily life. Thank you Jen for offering such a well run program! I’m hooked and will be back for more! Increased energy A feeling of lightness Lost pounds and inches Glowing skin Amazing new recipes to use again and again

I joined the cleanse to improve my overall health. I wanted to take a break, for the first time, from caffeine. And much to my surprise throughout the cleanse I didn’t miss it. The meal plan was very satisfying as I was satiated without any cravings. I loved the shopping lists, the bulk list was especially helpful. The weekly prep was well worth all the time and effort. It made the daily meals nice and easy to prepare. I very much appreciated the calorie and protein charts, so going forward I can create a personalized meal plan. My wins for this cleanse were: Prepping my meals for the week and cooking more Learning new recipes My nagging shoulder pain is gone

I was never eating vegetables. Tons of bread and easy to grab food. I was gaining weight steadily over the years. Thought I needed a bump to get into eating more veggies. This totally worked! Now I’m cooking and have finally gotten a clue as to what to do with veggies. Not only that but I loved the food. Everything was pretty yummy. Of course I have my favorites but everything was really good. For me I tried to get in the social aspect a little but in the end I kinda failed at that but it was nice reading others posts. The prep was brutal but the cost of an easy week. I definitely cook more! If not for my bad knee I’d love to train for a marathon. I actual crave salmon pizza and I really couldn’t break that but in my defense it is sooooo good. I never really ate Cheetos or red vines. Lol. Although by being on the cleanse I denied like 5 doughnuts, 3 or 4 pastries, and tons of m&m’s at the office!! Glad to have avoided and hopefully continue to avoid all that. In the end I have been so much happier! I feel like I’m on the path and making progress towards my goal of being healthy, energized and sleeping better. Thanks for a great start!! More veggies in my system. Started me cooking again. Great recipes to look forward to. Better sleep. On a plan I avoided many bad foods. Generally much happier.

This cleanse is truly amazing. Jen makes everything so easy! It’s well thought out and quite thorough. My husband who is somehow able to eat GIGANTIC portions of food (and not put on the pounds) was concerned about being hungry and I was worried about blood sugar crashes (as I’m prone to that); however what we experienced was exactly the opposite! We were quite content and even frequently so full that we had leftovers. We’ve eaten a vastly organic diet for years cook regularly consume minimal processed foods exercise regularly etc. Lately though I’ve been struggling with feeling bloated tired and just somewhat yucky. Back in 2014 I started making Jen’s green smoothies so thought I’d check out the website again and WOW have things grown but the quality friendliness and thought put into things remains unchanged! We decided to go for the cleanse and we’re SO glad we did! I no longer feel bloated digestion is great energy is mostly back and though I hoped to lose those pesky 5 pounds I feel great! Every recipe has been a winner as well! Bravo Jen! Thanks for providing such a great service to us all! No scam here! It’s as fabulous as everyone says it is!
