Fruits and Veggies – A Grand Adventure!
I’m so happy that Vitamix sent me an invitation to join this smoothie challenge and that Simple Green Smoothies created such a fun and exciting event! Growing up we didn’t have a lot of money so we stuck to very simple foods including limited options of fresh fruits and vegetables — bananas apples oranges peas corn green beans and iceberg lettuce with very occasional strawberries peaches and squashes. I did not experience a lot of varied fresh produce nor learn how to include them in my meals or as snacks. As an adult with food sensitivities due to gastric troubles I’ve always been wary of trying unfamiliar foods so I did not branch out in flavors or ingredients. I have had my Vitamix blender for nearly a decade but I’d only used it a few times in all those years til now. Thanks to this Simple Green Smoothies Challenge I had a fun reason to try a wide variety of delicious recipes and no time to procrastinate while using so many fruits and vegetables I haven’t tasted in years or decades. This fun journey broke the ice both to use my blender AND to try unfamiliar foods and flavor combinations so that I won’t reject future recipes just because the ingredients look unusual or unpalatable to me. Having the goal of a particular smoothie already set each day gave me the impetus to get up and do my “homework” even on draggy days. Having the shopping lists presented in advance allowed me to be fully prepared so that I did not give up because of missing critical ingredients. The easy recipes made the task feel attainable each day. And the Support group posting photos and tips and cheering each other on helped me see countless fun ways to prepare substitute and beautifully present a beautiful smoothie. I’m very much looking forward to the remaining 3 SGS Challenges for even more ways to add variety and fun flavors of healthful nutrients into my diet.
Tasty
I love my Vitamix and have recommended it to many. I use mine almost daily and part of my routine that helped me lose 100 lbs
winter getting out the grinches
I had a fun time experimenting with new smoothie recipes I love how you go into more detail about all ingredients and how to make our own almond milk. My favorite was the Honey Turmeric. I am trying the red velvet smoothie as a desert this weekend. Planning on doing this again starting the 24th with the whole family.
Reset
I love how the smoothie challenge gave me a reset. I find the more I make smoothies the easier it becomes. Kind of like second nature where it’s a smoooooth-ie process! I even made smoothies on snowboard days ❄️🏂🥶! This community is incredible. I think ya’ll took photography classes!!! 🤩
A Smoothie a Day…
After getting out of the smoothie habit during the holidays, it was nice to get back into the routine. I started participating in the SGS challenges in March or April of 2021 and have come to love them. Jen and her crew work hard to make them fun and enjoyable, which I am grateful for. The support and encouragement from the Support group is priceless. My favorite smoothie was Beginner’s Luck because of the combination of flavors. I also liked the strawberry banana smoothie, the meal replacement smoothie, and the honey turmeric smoothie. There were lots of interesting and different types of smoothies to keep us motivated. I hope to continue this habit because it feels good to do something healthy for my body. Thanks again for the support and inspiration.
Exploring new flavor combinations
I have never been confident in my ability to make a smoothie beyond the usual strawberry – banana OR using a store bought package. To get not only recipe but also a shopping list to prepare for this smoothie challenge was AMAZING in my journey to learn what is possible. There were some struggles to be honest in finding ingredients or right kind of ingredients but that is part of learning. Some of the flavors were not as good as I expected and some were very surprising. I have to say that I really am intrigued to learn more and experiment more based on this experience. I plan to remake some of these, combine few of them, and just be more adventurous in my smoothie journey. Thanks for creating the challenge and providing us the start we needed.
Lots of variety
I really liked leaning some new recipes and the baud for how to make my own. My favorite was the honey turmeric one. Enjoyed making these and week keep making them!
North Dakota mama going green
I love having more energy though out the day. I am an elementary school counselor and need tons of energy.
Winter Wonders
I participated in the 10 day- 10 Smoothie challenge. I had my Smoothie at breakfast each of the 10 mornings. 😋 I really enjoyed each one! The Honey Turmeric was the most interesting and different. The Peanut butter Chocolate Smoothie was like dessert. Perfect Lemon was refreshing. My very favorite was the Pre Workout Smoothie! It hit the spot. Thank you for all the recipes
The more the merrier
Sure you could do a challenge on your own, but it’s more fun together! Joining the challenge Support group is a fun and easy way to experience the camaraderie (or sometimes commiseration) of the commitment with others. I enjoyed hearing tips and suggestions about the recipes from those who were a bit ahead of me. It took me a few days to realize that several of the smoothies didn’tcontain greens. I really missed them after a few days in a row. That was the only small negative for me – easily remedied once I caught on.. And I was even inspired to post some pictures of my daily smoothies!
Simple Green Goodness
I’ve been participating in the Simple Green Smoothie challenges since 2015 and I think these recipes have been the most delicious. I loved the variety of flavor combos. Will definitely be blending these again soon!
Learned something new each day!!!
I love that I learned or tried something new each day whether a new ingredient (cashew milk, etc.) or a new combination of fruits and veggies that I would never combine. My favorite was the chocolate peanut butte smoothie. I added protein boost. It’s all my favs in one beverage!! The accomplishment I like to call out that was most impactful for me is the easy incorporation of more veggies and fruits in my diet. The shopping list made this easy for me as I look to change my pre-diabetes diagnosis. These smoothies will help me bring whole fruits and vegetables, which means that there is lots of fiber in everything to help keep my blood sugars levels from spiking.
Energizing & Refeshing
The smoothie challenge gave me energy and motivation to kick off the new year and I lost 7 lbs. in 10 days
Sunshine In a Smoothie
What a great way to start the new year! I loved all the smoothies and love being part of this group where we share our favorites, etc. Thank you for including me.
Berry Fun and Bubbly Delicious Smoothie Challenge Review
This was my first smoothie challenge. I enjoyed all the recipes, but my favorite was the Peanut Butter Chocolate Smoothie. It was my favorite because I was shocked that I would even like it, never mind love it. I also enjoyed the Epic Almond Smoothie, Meal Replacement, and the Creamy Blueberry Smoothie. The wild blueberries I used in the last smoothie really made the flavor pop. There wasn’t one recipe that I didn’t like. I would make them all again. To finish the challenge and not miss one day of smoothies was a great accomplishment. Buying and trying new foods that I normally wouldn’t buy was another accomplishment. Thank you Jen and team for providing such a fun and tasteful challenge. I’m looking forward to another one.
