Vegan Smoothie | Citrus Breeze

This simple, fruity Vegan Smoothie is jam-packed with vitamins, minerals, fiber, and other nutrients to help you fuel your passion.

Plant-based eating is becoming more and more popular (hello Beyonce!). People are looking to add more plants to their diet because the results don’t lie. And well, that’s our goal here at SGS. We want to inspire everyone to eat more plants and blend green smoothies with us.

This vegan smoothie contains some of my favorite, and easily accessible fruit: pineapple, oranges, banana, and mango. You can blend this vegan smoothie any time of year. The ingredients are available year-round fresh and frozen. Pretty sweet!

Add Plants, Crave More, Live Better

The more plants you add to your diet, the more you’ll start to crave them. That’s exactly what happened to me when I first started drinking green smoothies. (I didn’t dive fully into vegan smoothies in the beginning, yet I quickly realized the results get even better when you do!)

I hadn’t been giving my body the right kind of fuel. Instead of relying on a diet full of fruits, vegetables, and whole grains, I was living off of coffee, Lucky Charms, and mac n’ cheese. I was the world’s unhealthiest vegetarian. Well, that all changed after that first taste of a green smoothie.

Thanks to childhood pickiness, portrayal in the media, and the color green, a lot of people think they don’t like veggies, especially leafy greens. By leaving those out of the diet, the body misses out on so many nutrients that it can’t get from other places. Vitamins and supplements still aren’t as good as eating your fruits and veggies.

How This Vegan Smoothie Can Change Your Life

Eating and living healthy starts with the desire to do so. It can be a scary thing to do. And I’m not suggesting everyone needs to adopt a vegan diet and lifestyle. I live by a “you do you” mantra. But it almost goes without saying that most people could benefit from eating more plants.

During the day the majority of us are accustomed to three meals and a few snacks. Swap one of those with a green smoothie and see what happens. If you’re like me, you’ll find your energy start to soar. Your tastebuds will change. You’ll start craving more plants. And who knows? Maybe it will inspire you to make other healthy changes like going for a daily walk, practicing good sleep hygiene (we even have a green smoothie that helps promote good sleep!)

My point is you don’t have to go crazy. Start with one thing: a green smoothie, and see where it takes you. Green smoothies have taken me on a journey to other nations, they’ve fueled my body to run marathons, they’ve given me energy to be a girl boss, a wife, a mother, and all of the other roles I fulfill.

Vegan Smoothie | Citrus Breeze

This delicious vegan smoothie is also known as Citrus Breeze. My friend Dan Mottayaw created this recipe and it’s one of my faves. It’s so bright, citrusy and refreshing when you’ve been hitting the asphalt on a hot summer day.



  • 1 cup fresh spinach
  • 3/4 cup water
  • 1 orange
  • 1/4 cup mango
  • 1/4 cup pineapple
  • 1/2 banana


  1. Blend spinach, water, and oranges together until smooth.
  2. Add remaining ingredients and blend again.


Use at least one frozen fruit to make the smoothie cold or serve over ice.

    You can substitute those for peaches, nectarines, papaya, and apricots.

    The vegan smoothie is delicious, but I don’t know if I like the taste of mango in there as much as I do in some of the others.

    Hey Robin,

    Feel free to substitute the mango with peaches, nectarines, papaya, or apricots if you are not liking that flavor.

    Citrus Breeze is perhaps my favorite smoothie recipe! It is so refreshing and makes me think of summer. Perfect for these dreary winter skies. Sometimes I even add coconut milk to make it extra creamy.
