After completing your first green smoothie challenge, you’ll gain confidence with your blender and want to try new things. This recipe came from that experience in my own life— and grapes became a huge hit.

Green Smoothies vs Green Juice

When it comes to drinking your greens, there are two general ways to do it. Juicing your greens gives you a concentrated small amount of liquid. The nutrients can be easily absorbed into your blood stream and benefit your body. Juicing doesn’t contain fiber, which helps your digestive system work properly, curb blood sugar spikes and keeps you full longer.

Blending your greens creates a larger amount of liquid than juicing. It’s thicker due to the fiber retained in the greens. This slows down the speed the sugars and nutrients enter your body and helps you stay full longer.

I definitely lean towards Team Smoothie, yet I do think juicing has its benefits. For example, when your body is not able to perform well on it’s own (think chemotherapy, serious health condition, flu recovery, etc). Why add grapes to a smoothie

Grapes aren’t often blended in a smoothie…and it’s a shame! That’s why I’m sharing this recipe on the blog today— to raise awareness to the ‘raw’esomeness of grapes. Grapes are 80% water, which makes them blend easily and add extra hydration to your smoothie.

Additionally, grapes contain resveratrol. It’s believed it could help with the prevention and/or treatment of cancer, cardiovascular disease, and neurodegenerative diseases.

How to make an affordable smoothie

This green grape smoothie recipe is a hit in our house. We love how it has only ingredients I can always find at my local grocery store at an affordable price. That’s the key to making this a healthy habit for life— use ingredients you can always find and always afford. Translation: it’s okay to skip all the fancy potions and powders that people recommend you add to your smoothie. For this amazing recipe, all you need is:

  • baby spinach (I prefer organic because it’s on the EWG’s dirty dozen list)
  • green grapes (seedless work best so you don’t have any chunks)
  • pineapple (I use frozen pineapple to chill the smoothie and save me time chopping it up)
  • oranges (naval oranges are so flavorful and juicy!)

Ingredients

  • 1 cup spinach
  • 1/2 cup water
  • 1/2 orange
  • 1/2 cup grapes
  • 1/2 cup pineapple

Instructions

  1. Blend spinach, water orange until smooth.
  2. Add remaining fruit and blend again.

    I started the challenge on 4th Jan. This is definitely one of my favourites! I blended it yesterday as I had some grapes that needed eating. Will keep on blending and going for the plant based meals. I am feeling much better and the smoothies are helping to keep the unhealthy snacks at bay! Thank you for all the recipes in the challenge. I will go back and try the ones I missed.

    This was by far one of my favorites! So tangy! I love that in a smoothie! Adding citrus to my smoothies has always been so refreshing. One of my go to’s has an orange, lime and lemon in it! SOOOO GOOD!

    I hate to rate this one at all because I had to change it up so much. I didn’t have grapes and I can’t eat pineapple. Instead, I tried mango and blueberries. I’m just glad I made something to complete the 10 days!!!

    I switched the grapes for blueberries because we had eaten all of them from the last recipe. But we also didn’t like the other smoothie that included them. So, with blueberries this is delicious. Thanks for all the recipes that came with this challenge! I have enjoyed it and will continue to blend.

    I’m doing this kind of late, but I wanted to get all of the Bingo squares filled and all I had left was to add Kale. I’ve searched all week for kale and every store I went to was out. I drove almost 2 hours each way to get the kale for this smoothie today and it was worth it. I really like it. I can taste the difference, it adds a little zing to it. The orange, grapes, and pineapple seem to blend into a tropical flavor. I really like it.

    I really liked this smoothie, the last one of the 10 day challenge. I put in coconut water instead of water and very black grapes. Sort of had a tropical taste to it. A keeper for me

    Honestly this one was not my favorite. I was a bit surprised. I really thought I would enjoy this on first sip. I love every ingredient in this smoothie but I was surprised by the taste. In the future, I may add something to this to get to something I like.

    I found the smoothie quite thin so I added a banana coconut flakes and chia seeds. Also substituted cherries for grapes as grapes are very pricey right now and added cucumber for added hydration. I am a Rawkstar, made it to day 10!
