Strawberry Ginger Zinger Green Smoothie

Strawberry Ginger Zinger Green Smoothie

Strawberries aren’t just delicious, they are also one of the healthiest foods you can eat (or drink). They are chockfull of antioxidants that provide cardiovascular benefits as well as having a positive effect on lowering blood sugar. Not to mention a serving of strawberries has more vitamin C than an orange.

Ginger has anti-inflammatory properties as well as aiding in digestion and helping the body naturally detoxify. It may also help alleviate pain – from arthritis to menstrual pain and more. Such a great thing to add into your daily green smoothie to give it some pep and up the nutrients even more.

    Hi Eileen,

Out of bananas? We got you covered!

Some great banana substitutes are: Mango, Papaya, Pear, Chia seeds, Fresh dates, Nut Butters, Unsweetened applesauce, Avocado (won’t add the sweetness, but will definitely add the thick and creamy texture)!

Your site changed my life. I’ve wanted to incorporate green smoothies into my diet, but it’s always been an overly complicated process. You made it easy. Every morning, it takes me about 5 minutes to blend and clean up. Voila! Breakfast and lunch made. It’s so easy, that I’ve been drinking green smoothies for breakfast and lunch for the last thirty days. No more coffee, no more caffeine, and no more sugar. I lost almost 10% of my body weight. My skin glows and I have lots of energy.

So, thanks again for making smoothies simple.

I used cashew milk since it is what I had in hand. This looked like a chocolate smoothie since mine came out on the brown side. The addition of the ginger was incredibly refreshing. A question though, I just peeled And sliced about an 1.5 inches of fresh ginger and threw it into the vitamix without grating. What is the rule of thumb to measure 1tbs?

Just got to the bottom of my smoothie and realized why you need to grate! I had a clump of ginger pulp at the bottom of my glass. Lol! Still very delicious.

    Hi Beverly,

1 tbs of grated ginger is equal to 1 inch! But I can never get enough and always add a little extra! 🙂

I have a 20mth old and an 8yr old. Are your smoothies ok to give to them as well?

  15. SGS Rawkstar

    February 11th, 2016 at 12:11 pm

    Hi Gina,

We love sharing our green smoothies with little rawkstars! We suggest starting small with an 8oz snack size, as all of that added fiber can be tough on little bellies. Want to be 100% sure? It’s always a good idea to check-in with your pediatrician before adding something new to your children’s diets.

I’d never tried almond milk before but really enjoyed this smoothie. I’ve been looking through the recipes and they all seem as though they’d be very easy to make quickly and take to work for lunch, which has often been a problem for me before. I like that a lot of the ingredients ‘cross over’ into other recipes so that I’m not left with a bunch of something or other – it can always be used up.

So today was my first (loved the ginger ‘zing’) and I’m already looking forward to tomorrows. Thanks!

I just came across your website and am in love! I especially love your article on the meal prep for smoothies and freezing them beforehand. Can this be one that I freeze? Aka, can ginger be frozen?

Definitely! Ginger is perfect for freezing – preserving all of its flavor + nutrients.

Hello , just wondering if I can use powdered ginger instead of fresh ginger? If so how much should I use?

  21. SGS Rawkstar Amanda

    August 7th, 2017 at 5:03 pm

    Hi Zakia,

You can. We prefer to use fresh, but if powdered is all you have available, then go for it! The ratio is 1 tsp dry to 1 tbsp fresh.

    Hope that helps!
