Rockin’ the Sweet Potatoes


We’re suckers for sweet potatoes. Hence the excitement we felt when we first created the Thanksgiving in your Mouth Green Smoothie many moons ago.

Have you tried it yet? If not, it’s time to get blending because this one is like a healthy version of a pumpkin spice latte— Ahhhh-mazing!

And if the recipe below isn’t reason alone to fill your shopping basket with some sweet potatoes, we have 5 reasons that will get you there ASAP.


Here are five reasons we love sweet potatoes

1. Eye Like You — Like carrots, one cup of cooked sweet potatoes is high in Vitamin A — which are essential for healthy eyes.

2. Immune Booster — Sweet potatoes are full of vitamins and minerals that help keep your immunity strong.

3. Budget Friendly — Available during the winter months when most other produce tends to be expensive, this orange knockout is one to reach for if you have a tight budget. They are widely available and cost efficient.

4. Keep things moving — Sweet potatoes contain high amounts of fiber which helps keep you full longer and also keeps things moving regularly.

5. Yum Factor — You can’t beat the sweet potato taste. Sweet potatoes are incredibly delicious and so good for you, it’s time to bust these bad boys out and start adding them to your blender.

Prep Time: 5 minutes
Servings: 2
This is what I am talking about! Thanksgiving in your Mouth green smoothie is the next best thing to a pumpkin spiced latte... and WAY healthier. Serve with a dash of nutmeg on top (mine was more like a spoonful of nutmeg...and it was so gooooood). Happy fall to you!


  • 2 cups fresh spinach
  • 2 cups almond milk unsweetened
  • 1/4 cup water
  • 1 cup sweet potato cooked
  • 2 cups mango
  • 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • 1 teaspoon ground nutmeg


  1. Blend spinach, almond milk and water until smooth.
  2. Next add remaining ingredients and blend again.

Recipe Notes

Bake sweet potato at 400 degrees for 45 minutes. Then chill in fridge until ready to use. Use at frozen mango to make the green smoothie cold.

    I love the idea of roasting root vegetables before blending them! But I’ve heard it changes the nutritional value, do you think that is true? Love your website too!! Just found it today and WILL definitely be using some recipes.

      Thanks for the question. Roast vegetables will take some nutritional value out, but not eating them at all you get zero percent of the positive nutritional value. 🙂 So we find that it out weighs one another. 🙂

      Sweet Potato Pie Smoothie!

      1 1/2c mashed sweet potato
      2c almond milk
      1/2c ice
      1 banana
      3-4tbs maple syrup
      1tsp vanilla extract
      1/2tsp ground cinnamon
      1/4tsp ground ginger
      1/4tsp nutmeg
      Pinch sea salt

    Whohoo!!! Hubby thought this was so good he asked me to start making him an extra smoothie for work! Wow!!! It tastes like sweet potatoe pie! I added 3 tbsp almond butter, 1 banana and subbed apple juice for the 1/4c water. Delicious!!!

    My husband and I are getting back on the healthy bandwagon. We just had a baby 6 months ago an I gained 100 pounds during pregnancy. I’ve lost 50 pounds already but am ready to take it to the next level! I’ve been both vegan and raw vegan in the past so green smoothies is right up my alley! My he-man husband…not so much! Lol!!! He is a meat and potatoes kind of guy and kinda laughs when he sees my green smoothies…but I think the thought of adding sweet potatoes to it might make him “warm up” to the idea! Thanks so much for this website!!!

    Ps.. Can you guys do a list of “Man approved green smoothies” ? The PB&J smoothie also sounds like a man approved winner!
