Green smoothie recipe with mango

Take your tastebuds on a tropical journey with this mango orange smoothie. It’s no secret that I love mango… I could blend it in every smoothie. It’s one of the stars of our fool-proof Beginner’s Luck Smoothie. This mango orange smoothie swaps pineapple for an orange and plain water for coconut water. With another easy winner, it might be hard to choose the fav between these two smoothies…

Mango orange smoothie ingredients

This smoothie is a tropical oasis of flavor + nutrition. It’s got over 100% of the recommended daily value of vitamin C, as well as a great boost of fiber. Make sure to leave as much of the white pithe of the orange as you can when peeling… that’s where the fiber and many nutrients are located in an orange.

Lower sugar options

If the natural sugar in this smoothie is a little high for you, then I’ve got some great swap options. Swap out 1/2 banana for 1/4 avocado. Avocado helps keep the smoothie creamy + add in healthy fat, while lowering the sugar level. Peaches are a great swap for the mango in this mango orange smoothie, since they have a lower glycemic index (sugar level). Green smoothies are easily customized to your liking, so don’t be afraid to make some swaps or test new ingredients to get the perfect combo for your tastebuds + nutritional needs.

Coconut water is nature’s gatorade

If you need some extra electrolytes in your diet, then this mango orange smoothie is for you! Studies show that coconut water does a great job replacing electrolytes after a long workout. I often take coconut water with me, or add it to my post workout smoothie. I want to make sure I’m refueling my body the right way, especially after a long run.

If you want to use this mango orange smoothie as a post-workout drink, then don’t forget to boost it with Protein Smoothie Boost. This plant based, all organic powder will boost your smoothie by 10 grams of protein!

Mango orange smoothie liquid swaps

If coconut water just isn’t your thing, or you don’t have any on hand, then no worries! Here’s what I recommend as a liquid base for this mango orange smoothie:

  • Green tea
  • Water
  • Coconut milk in the refrigerated carton (not canned… it would be too thick for this recipe!)

No matter which base you choose, this smoothie will still give you amazing health benefits, as well as a great energy boost!

Loved this smoothie. I was skeptical when I saw coconut water in the ingredient list this week, as I do not like coconut, but I gave it a try. I was pleasantly surprised that there was no strong coconut flavor!

  4. Liz says:

AMAZING! Just do it, this was delish, I ran out of coconut water so had to do 1/2 water and it was still awesome!

  8. Meagan says:

  9. Anita says:

Five stars with adaptations tasted just right

YUM! This smoothie is so delightful!! Our banana was so small so I threw in an extra one. Can’t have too much banana. 🙂

  11. AshleeT says:

This drink is what dreams are made of. It is so, so, so incredibly good!! Side note for those having trouble blending oranges: I was using a fairly decent blender from a big box store but it just could not do oranges. It would never blend oranges down to a smooth consistency. I recently took the plunge and bought a Kitchen Aid high performance blender. Holy mother of Pete, is that thing awesome!! It blends oranges down to the smoothest texture ever. It’s like sipping a cloud.

  12. Philippa Stewart says:

I thought this smoothie had great flavor. I seem to have a hard time with blending the oranges into a smooth consistency so the smoothie was a bit chunky but tasted good!

  13. Kathryn says:

This one really took me by surprise. I’m not usually a big fan of oranges in my smoothies, but yum! I love to add some greek yogurt in there as well for a boost of creaminess and protein! Love rawkin’ these green smoothies everyday!

This was really tasty only my tummy felt a little off afterwards but soon subsided!
Still getting used to the greens I guess! Used one cup of coconut water as I usually
buy the 520ml cans and seeing as we’re using it again would like to finish it off the second
day so it doesn’t get stale.

  18. Linda Thompson says:

Ran out of mango so substituted frozen peaches

Lovely glowing green ! Used plain water as I had no coconut water to hand. And replaced the orange with pineapple as was at work and didnt have time to peel and slice an orange. Was delicious.

When I am out of coconut water I just add some coconut oil to my water 🙂

Frozen Mango was sold out at my co-op so I replaced it with peaches. I tasted more of the spinach than I would have liked, but all and all a good afternoon snack.

  44. Stephanie Nicholson says:

Loved this one! I actually left out the orange this time and added a little extra mango and the texture was amazing. The coconut water adds a whole extra layer of flavor and texture that I love! Enjoying the tropics even in the winter with this one.

  45. Jade says:

A perfect blend of mango and orange! Felt like I was drinking and island drink on the beach 🙂 I loved it and will totally add this to my smoothie rotation.

  52. Karina Bak says:

    One of my favorite recipes!

  53. Jesika McAteer says:

Very tropical tasting. We did not have coconut water so mixed a tsp of coconut oil to warm water, worked well. Children loved it. Definitely strong coconut flavor (but maybe because I used oil instead?)

    • SGS Rawkstar Carissa says:

      Hey Jesika,

If the coconut was too strong then you can always use water instead of adding the coconut water.

Coconut tends to have a strong taste for some so if you are not a fan it is perfectly fine to leave that out! 🙂

  54. Molly says:

  55. LoLa says:

I’m fortunate enough to live in the tropics and have fresh mango from my garden and coconuts are abundant! This is one of my favorite smoothie combinations. Cheers!

  56. Jennifer Jacobs says:

Made this yesterday for the whole family! The color is lovely and it was sweet and creamy. My kids even liked it!

  57. Cecilia Anderson says:

Made this for my mom and I yesterday and we both loved it! She’s not much of a smoothie person, so I’m excited she liked this!

I love this smoothie!! It is a morning burst and wakes me up!

  60. Michelle says:

Wow that pineapple infused coconut water sounds like a dream 🙂

  61. Courtney Wells says:

I love this one…. I have all the recipes from Green Smoothie challenges prior to this one and have scoured it to find my weekend free for alls! This one will definitely go in the book. I have done this challenge several times but, this is my hubby’s first time- be is totally sold! With one this tasty he has zero complaint !!! Thanks for the yummy!!!!

  63. Kellyann Mitchell says:

I loved this one! I wasn’t going to bother buying mango but I am so glad I did. This one was so refreshing.

    • SGS Rawkstar Carissa says:

      Hey Kellyann,

Glad you went for it and bought the mango!! It is the most refreshing fruit in my opinion =D

  64. Kirsten Leniger says:

Really enjoyed this one; way more than I thought I would. I’ll be making it again, but blending the oranges first to strain out the pulp, then blending the spinach and banana after that.

  65. Steph says:

I really liked this smoothie – I subbed out mango for pineapple due to allergies, and found it to be very fresh and citrus-y. Still not as good as Berry Blast, but I will definitely make this again!

    • SGS Rawkstar Carissa says:

      Hey Steph,

Great way to substitute the mango for pineapple. I bet it was delicious =P

  66. Monique G says:

I loved it! It was smooth and was tasty.

  67. Sue says:

Decided to take a break from spinach and instead used a blend of super greens. Kale, chard, mizuna & spinach. Had a little stronger taste of “green” but blended with the orange, mango & banana it was just a delicious as if I only used spinach. A good blend of fruits & veggies.

    • SGS Rawkstar Carissa says:

      Hey Sue,

Good job switching up your greens with this recipe.

  68. Dora Suarez says:

I’m not a fan of oranges in my smoothies as they turn out to pulpy (maybe I’ll have to try blending my orange then straining), so I used 1c of liquid and subbed 1/2c of pineapple in place of the orange. Delightful 5-Stars with this modification.

Please suggest how to deal with pulp when using standard blender with green smoothie setting.

    • SGS Rawkstar Carissa says:

      Hey Dora,

I would try blending the orange and the liquid first. That way it will blend through the pulp much better than adding it at the end.

      Hope that helps!

  69. Carolyn Oates says:

I admit I was not eager for this morning’s smoothie as I dislike mango! Well, I was very happily surprised by the flavor this smoothie offered. I added a little Nutiva protein powder(plant based) and a little almond butter so it would hold me until lunchtime. It was really refreshing and flavorful. I am loving this challenge as I was in a rut and had been drinking the same couple smoothie recipes all week. Loving this new variety of ingredients,

    • SGS Rawkstar Carissa says:

      Hey Carolyn,

I am so happy that this recipe surprised you! That is why I loved this challenge so much because you get to try so many new recipes that you wouldn’t normally go for.

  70. Elizabeth says:

I love love love this smoothie….but don’t you dare make it with a banana past it’s prime – it loses all possible detection of the mango. I made sure to have perfect specimens for today’s blend-up and started off the week right!

    • SGS Rawkstar Carissa says:

      Hey Elizabeth,

Oh no, that does not sound good if your banana over powered your mango! Glad you were able to figure out what was causing it and make it work for you 🙂

  71. Brittany Gibson says:

Delicious!!! Really enjoyed this smoothie, great taste.

  72. Tanya says:

    Very good!

  73. Shannon says:

Loved this one! It was a sweet treat.

  74. Monica says:

I really liked this one… the only thing for me is that it felt too thick so I would add a it more coconut water next time… other than that it was absolutely delicious!! 10/10

  75. Patricia says:

Had to add additional coconut water as the smoothie was super thick. Liked this one too!

    • SGS Rawkstar Carissa says:

      Hey Patricia,

That is so great you were able to adjust it and make it work for you!

  76. Carol S. says:

I could really taste the mango in this recipe. It’s one of my favorites. Next time I will have to add some protein and make it a meal

  77. Bethany Vines says:

This was pretty good! I’m not a huge fan of banana or coconut water, but this was pretty good despite that. I tasted a little more of the banana than the other flavors. Next time I might try avocado instead, or more mango. I added some almond milk to thin it out and some flax and chia.

  78. Anita says:

This smoothie was to much fruit sugars. The flavor was good and added flaxseed an coconut oil. Three stars

    • SGS Rawkstar Carissa says:

      Hey Anita,

You can always swap the amount of fruit and veggies in your smoothie so that it is the perfect amount for you specifically!

That way you will have less fruit added to your smoothie.

  79. Valerie W says:

Liked the flavor with the coconut water.

  80. Audrey says:

Didn’t have coconut water so used water. This is definitely one of my top 3 smoothie flavors! Am loving this challenge!

    • SGS Rawkstar Carissa says:

      Hey Audrey,

Glad you made it your own by adding the water since you didn’t have the coconut water!

  81. Bonnie Good says:

Added extra coconut water tonthin it out. Liked flavour of coconut

    • SGS Rawkstar Carissa says:

      Hey Bonnie,

That sounds like a delicious addition to this recipe!

  82. Fosta Brown says:

This ones a winner. Loved it. Adding it to my favorites # Green smoothie # 30 day Chellenge!

I learned today I’m not a fan of coconut water. But other than that, loved the smoothie.

  85. Colette Friedt Eirich says:

Loved the mango smoothie week 2 begins.

  86. Clare Skinner says:

This is my favourite so far, didn’t have any coconut water so used plain old H2O. The ingredients blended easily and gave it a smooth consistency. It tasted great. Really enjoyed it was yummy

  87. Mireille says:

Even though this isn’t one that I can have everyday due to it being so sweet, it is delicious! It’s really yummy with avocado added as well.

  88. Amber says:

    Love this smoothie

  89. Lina says:

I loved this recipe- I will be honest I left out the banana because i can’t stand them, however the smoothie tasted amazing without it anyway- I tasted a lot more of the orange than i did the mango which I also love but delicious either way. I am so happy I decided to jump onboard!

  90. Robyn C says:

Love this smoothie. Just the right amount of sweetness. And I love that this one calls for coconut water!

  91. Adriana says:

Loved this one. I used almond milk instead of coconut water and it was super yummy!!

  92. Clare Jones says:

  93. Meagan says:

I blended cauliflower in place of banana and it was so yummy. I can only imagine how yum with the banana! Win in my book

  94. Pam says:

Loved the different taste that the coconut water gave…. definitely keen to use more of it

  95. Gayathri says:

Mango is my favourite fruit and usually use it with banana for smoothies. I usually add a bit of low fat Greek yoghurt too. But I was reading the tips for smoothies as a meal replacement and noted the combination of ingredients for protein and healthy fats replacement, and there is no sign of yoghurt. Is there a reason for this?

  96. Ana says:

    Just love it

  97. Jessica says:

This was a winner. I doubled the recipe for my husband and myself. We both enjoyed it.

  98. Christina says:

Love mango juice, so this will be a good one.

  99. Christina says:

Love mango juice so this will be a good one.

  100. grace says:

Mango, banana and spinach are my to-go combo in my daily green smoothies – adding orange changes the flavor a bit but not too much, thank you for sharing!!!
