Love our Green smoothies…I try to keep the fruit content low and concentrate of the veggies.

    1 cup of water
    1 apple
    handful of broccoli
    handful of parsley
2 handfuls of spinach or kale
    1/2 lemon
about 1/2 to 1 teaspoon of flaxseed meal

My two year old daughter and I have started almost every day of the New Year with a green smoothie, and this is our newest favourite…

    Lime Refresher

    1/2 an apple
    1/2 a pear
    1/2 cup of frozen mango
1 banana (fresh or frozen, but we like frozen better)
1 BIG lime (the whole thing, peeled)
    2 big stalks of kale
    1 tablespoon of chia seeds
1 – 1.5 cups of cold water (depending on desired consistency)

Blend well and drink! Serves two adults plus one wee one. :)

Tropical Coconut Mango “Lime” Green Smoothie

(a real taste of Summer Tropics in a glass ;) )

1 cup of coconut milk (use full fat- the MCT (type of fats) in coconut are used by your body for energy)
1/4 to 1/2 cup of water (adjust to your liking)
2 cups of kale (or 2 big leaves- remove the stems)
1 Tbsp of ACV or 1/4 lemon juice (adding vitamin C source increases the absorption of non-heme iron present in dark leafy greens ;) )
    1/2 mango chopped
1/2 avocado (another great source of fibers & healthy fats, great for your skin :) )
1 Tbsp of chia seeds (hello omega-3s!)
Optional: 1 tsp of raw honey
Dash of cinnamon (anti-inflammatory & helps regulate blood sugar levels)

    Makes 4-5 cups.

    Et voilà!

You’ve got yourself a Tropical Coconut Mango “Lime” Green Smoothie.

    Hope you enjoy :) .

MMmmm! Simple Green Smoothies inspires us everyday! This is one of our inspirations, Pina Coladas for breakfast!!

    Lemon Coconut Pina Colada

    3 large cabbage leaves, torn
    2 celery sticks
2 cups fresh or 1 can of pineapple
1 cup of water or juice from canned pineapple
1/2 can coconut milk, stirred well
6 Tbsp freshly squeezed lemon juice
    6 ice cubes

Pour your entire can of coconut milk into a bowl and stir well as coconut milk separates in the can. You will use half of it in this recipe.

Place all of your ingredients into your blender and blend until smooth. Note that pineapple can leave an obvious pulp texture in your smoothy so depending on the age and quality of your blender you may have to blend on high a little longer to get it this smooth.

Pour into glasses, serve, sip and smile. :)

Bonus! To the leftover coconut milk add 2 Tbsp cocoa, a splash of vanilla, a pinch of salt and then sweeten to taste, I use 1 1/2 Tbsp Maple Syrup. Eat it straight up before anyone sees you or serve a dollop on pound cake. You can thank me later. :)

    Enjoy!
(hmmm . . . it’s still loading on facebook, should be there soon!)
