Tips for Making Weight Loss Drinks
- Chop a big batch of fresh ginger and freeze single portions. That way, it’s ready whenever a recipe calls for it.
- Sip the vinegar drinks through a straw. They also go down easily ice cold or warmed like spiced cider.
- Turmeric stains easily, so use a cup you don’t mind coloring. Fresh roots have more flavor than ground, so choose fresh when you can.
- Keep the tonics in a wide-mouth quart jar, which suits the Switchel and vinegar drink.
- For the juices, try a Nama J2 cold-press juicer. No juicer? Blend everything, then strain it through a nut milk bag.
- For the smoothies and shakes, a Vitamix Ascent Series blender makes them silky.

Common Questions
The best ones use real ingredients and show their numbers. Every recipe here has its numbers on the card. Then pair them with regular meals, sleep and movement.
Some do. A few use honey or maple syrup, and the Turmeric Tea makes honey optional. For example, the Apple Cider Vinegar drink has 6 grams of sugar, and the Ginger Switchel has 13. Check each recipe card for the full sugar number.
Sure, as part of a balanced routine. Mix teas, juices and shakes for variety, and don’t rely on any single drink. If you sip the vinegar drinks, use a straw.
The Chocolate Protein Shake has 38 grams, and the Low-Calorie Protein Shake has 37. The Meal Replacement Smoothie has 34, the Fat-Burning Smoothie has 32, and the Orange Mango Smoothie has 29. All five use protein powder, so you can usually swap in your favorite.
Yes, several keep well. The Apple Cider Vinegar drink lasts 2 to 3 days in a sealed jar in the fridge. The Meal Replacement Smoothie keeps up to 24 hours. Also, the Ginger Switchel works as a concentrate you dilute later.
Several juice cards list a cold-press juicer. However, the Blender Green Juice needs only a blender. Also, the Golden Pineapple, Carrot Turmeric and Apple Beet notes suggest blending and straining.

Hi guys, this recipe looks great. Would it still be as good if I subbed out the almond milk for soy milk?
Hi Susannah,
We personally try to avoid high amounts of soy, and reach for plant-based milks like almond, coconut, or rice milk! It’s all about finding what’s right for you + your body.

Of course! Our recipes are here to inspire you, please don’t feel like you need to follow them to a T.

Thanks for the yummy recipes! Do you have any recommendations on “clean” almond milk and coconut milk? I often see ingredients such as guar gum or xanthan gum or carageenan listed on the labels of the unsweetened ones.

Whole Foods makes a “cleaner” almond milk– but not in the refrigerator area. Go to the isle where they have all other milks — gold box.
