Just ordered a reconditioned Vitamix for 25% plus free shipping through a friends and family deal. I am so excited! I never thought I would be able to afford one of these! I’m hoping my smoothies with Kale and oranges will be smooth now. My kids won’t touch smoothies with too much texture to them!

Question: When you talk about smoothie servings, you say that each recipe makes 2 servings. How many ounces, more or less, are in each serving? I’ve been drinking smoothies, off and on, for about a year now but have stuck to mostly 2 or 3 recipes. I’m looking forward to committing to new challenges and new tastes! Also, I usually add a scoop of whey vanilla protein powder to my smoothies. Do I need to remove some ingredients of these recipes before adding protein powder?

Hi Rosario,

Each serving of Simple Green Smoothies is 16 oz. We prefer to avoid soy and animal products, but that’s just our personal preference; if you enjoy whey vanilla protein powder, feel free to use them in your green smoothie creations!! We’ve already added proteins to some of our smoothie recipes, so in those cases you would just switch them out for the protein powder, otherwise just add away!!

Here are some of our favorite ways to add protein to our smoothies:

Really looking forward to doing the 30 Day Challenge in April. My diet has been less than stellar and I’m hoping this will help me get back on track. I have tried your Beginner Smoothie and it is delicious. Can’t wait to try all the different recipes.

I have been wanting to do one of these challenges, but haven’t wanted to put out the expense of the mixer. Would I be able to use my cuisinart 11 cup capicty food processor? Thank you.

Hi Rhonda,

You don’t need a fancy blender to make our smoothies–any blender or food processor will do. We want green smoothies to be available to everyone no matter what their budget is, so please don’t feel like you need an expensive blender to join the challenge.

I tell people I am doing the 30 day smoothie challenge and all I get is negativity. I am told smoothies just raise ur blood sugar and all that sugar in the fresh fruit isn’t as good as we think

Hi Lori,

Thanks for the message. So glad you are joining us for the 30-Day Challenge! 🙂 Our smoothie recipes make about 4-5 cups (32oz – 40oz). Jadah drinks at least 2 cups (16 oz) everyday in the morning as a breakfast meal replacement. Jen drinks hers for lunch or sometimes as a mid morning snack Since green smoothies are full of fiber, they keep us both full for a while. Each smoothie has 3 cups of fruit in it, and it is recommended that an adult has 1.5 to 2 cups of fruit a day. When you drink 16oz of our green smoothie recipe you will be meeting, or just under your daily intake for fruit. If you feel like that is too much fruit, feel free to do 2 cups of fruit in each smoothie with 3 cups of leafy greens. Hope that helps. 🙂

Love this site, we have been drinking a lot of green smoothies this week and my kids and I are loving it! Just wondering how much chia seeds do you add to a smoothie? Thanks!
